For obvious reasons, Princess Leia didn't get a lot of screentime in Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, but we finally have a detailed look at her lightsaber thanks to an upcoming book. Check it out...

Star Wars: The Lightsaber Collection is set to be released on October 20th, and thanks to io9, we have a detailed look at the lightsaber wielded by Princess Leia once upon a time. Due to Carrie Fisher's sudden death, the actress was obviously unable to shoot her role in Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, so a combination of old footage and VFX were used to give her a presence in the movie.

Unfortunately, the book doesn't really provide any more information about the General's lightsaber than the movie itself, saying only: "Her brother, Luke Skywalker, acts as her instructor, and Luke seeks to pass down the same lessons he learned from Obi-Wan Kenobi and Yoda."

"But Leia senses only tragedy at the end of her path, specifically the unshakable conviction that her training will lead to the death of her son," it continues. "Leia quits the program and leaves her lightsaber with her brother, who keeps it with him during his years of exile on Ahch-To."

As for the lightsaber itself, it's described as "a work of art, defined by elegant symmetry and silver and gold hues that evoke Leia's regal upbringing on Alderaan."

With Leia's time as a Jedi so brief, it seems doubtful we'll ever get to visit that period in her life. Ultimately, it was something of a missed opportunity on Lucasfilm's part not to delve into that a little further, especially as the Princess having Force powers was only very briefly touched on in The Last Jedi.

@Kyos - Agree. I thought it was dumb to try and make Leia a jedi in the 1st place. It's so blatantly terrible that Kathleen Kennedy and JJ Abrams are trying so hard to make Leia the main character. The original was great because ALL 3 of them were main characters and essential to saving the galaxy.

KK's feminist propaganda is ruining star wars. Based on canon novels, Leia is suddenly great at EVERYTHING even in using and controlling the force than Luke. The sequel trilogy has done nothing but ruin Luke, Solo, and Darth Vader's legacy and weirdly transitions Leia into becoming the best of them all and central focus of returning characters just because she's the only character that KK relates to.

Although the flashback was pretty cool, I still don't fully understand how exactly it fits in the timeline post-RotJ (although that goes for a lot of things from TRoS, which still feels like a sequel to two movies that TFA and TLJ weren't)

This isn't new. We've had pictures of this for a while. I saw them months ago.

Man, it's sad af how i feel toward the main saga rn.

I know full well that i'm not even the biggest SW fan out there, far from it, i can't even begin to imagine how they feel.

Can't even course correct, can't reboot, some of the actors died or are too old.
Just gotta suck up and keep what they handed to us.

F*ck this shit.

Say what you want about Rise of Skywalker(I thought it was meh with some cool action sequences but that’s about it) but that training montage was probably the best scene in the movie by far besides Han talking to Ben. Leia’s lightsaber looks really cool. RIP Carrie Fisher. The OT actors deserved much much better.

I used to collect some lightsabers when I was little, I certainly would have tried to get this one too.
