It's been a long time since Spider-Man starred in an animated series that adults could enjoy just as much as kids, and, unfortunately, it looks like we'll be waiting a little bit longer for something as good as The Spectacular Spider-Man. However, parents looking to get your children on board with the wall-crawler's world will likely want to keep an eye on this show.

Titled Spidey and his Amazing Friends, Entertainment Weekly has shared a first look at the series in the form of some stills and the catchy theme song.

Fall Out Boy's Patrick Stump was enlisted by Disney to create the theme, and it sounds like he relished the opportunity. "I came in with decades of being a Marvel nerd. But I was like, well, this is probably going to be the first time a lot of kids in this generation are going to see an iteration of Spider-Man," he explains. "What does that mean? There's so much history behind that."

Revealing that he took inspiration from all previous iterations of Spider-Man on screen, the musician adds: "All of those things were swirling around my head in like one minute, you know, and I just sat down and had this explosion of inspiration. Then I just had to scramble to get to the studio to lay it all down. I was so excited at that point."

Stump is also scoring the series, and that means getting the opportunity to work on characters like Miles Morales, Green Goblin, Black Panther, and even a female version of Doctor Octopus!

A premiere date for Spidey and his Amazing Friends hasn't been set yet, but it's expected to arrive on Disney Channel and Disney Junior later this summer.
