Will Marvel Studios Spider-Man Be Miles Morales?

Hollywood Insiders Say The New Spider-Man That Will Be Introduced In The Marvel Movie Universe Won't Be Peter Parker.

I wrote an article last month stating that I believe that Marvel would get Spider-Man back or at least would be able to use him in movies. I also wrote that I believe Dylan O'Brien would be perfect for the role as Peter Parker, and over the past few days the whole world has gone Dylan O'Brien for Peter Parker crazy! I still think he is perfect for Peter Parker, but in the last 24 hours a lot of things have changed. There is a Hollywood source saying that it's another Spider-Man that has caught Marvel's eye.

Jeff Sneider from The Wrap just dropped a potential bomb regarding the next Spider-Man on the Meet the Movie Press podcast, which he co-hosts with Mark Reilly from Schmoes Know.

"This is not set in stone guys, but I'm telling you right now: Spider-Man is not going to be white," Jeff Sneider revealed. When Reilly asked him if that was speculation, Jeff replied, "I am 95% sure."

If Spider-Man isn't going to be white than what will he be? "Spider-Man is going to be most likely black," Jeff stated. "But there is a chance he could also be Latino. 95% sure not white."

Reilly then suggests, based on Jeff's information, that Marvel/Sony should go with Miles Morales instead of Peter Parker. "I don't think it's going to be Peter Parker," Jeff added. "I really feel strongly - Sony has an opportunity to beat Marvel and DC to the punch with sort of a major black comic book movie character. Like I mentioned last week, the e-mails that leaked were perceived to be racist in some quarters. I really think that is going to play into things."

Take this with a grain of salt... but if this is true this will be a game changer. Was this part of the agreement between Sony and Marvel? With Sony keeping Peter Parker under their thumb but allowing Marvel to use Spider-Man in their movies, maybe a different one? Very crazy stuff! I love Peter Parker and he will still be around but this would definitely bring Miles Morales into play.
Miles is a teenage inner city boy who is of Black and Latino heritage who has the great misfortune of becoming Spider-Man. Fans have grown and accepted the new Spider-Man over the last year or so, but that was in the comic books, however on the big screen I don't know. Still a lot of die hard Peter Parker fans out there. Let's just say this is true, then you have to put some thought as to who is going to play Mile Morales. My pick would be Disney's own (because let's not pretend that Disney won't have some say in this) Trevor Jackson, the handsome and multi talented up and coming superstar. The 18 year old is a recording artist who can act, dance, and sing. He also has the charisma to pull off Miles.
He has been in the Disney Channel movie 'Let It Shine' and also featured on tv shows such as 'Eureka' and 'K.C. Undercover' with his real life girlfriend Zendaya Coleman.
Do you know him? I bet Disney and Marvel know him very well. In closing, as a fan of Spider-Man and Peter Parker, I'd be happy, and as an African American I think having a black Spider-Man on the bigh screen would be cool too, especially if they pick this kid! A young, hip, black Spider-Man wouldn't that be something! Either way Peter Parker or Miles Morales which ever one...it's a win win for me. I have a fan-made trailer with Dylan O'Brien as Spider-Man on youtube. It's only fair that a Trevor Jackson Miles Morales one is on it's way!
