It's been confirmed that a new trailer for The Suicide Squad will be released later today, and snippets of it can already be found playing as adverts on YouTube (so, keep your eyes peeled before the full thing drops). We'll bring you that the second it's online, but some new stills have been released in the meantime.

Bloodsport, Harley Quinn, Polka-Dot Man, Ratcatcher 2, King Shark, and even a glimpse of Starro can be found here, and we'll hopefully get to see that villain in all his glory in the trailer itself.

It has, however, been reported that the new footage will see Idris Elba's Bloodsport behind bars because he sent Superman to the ICU after shooting him with a Kryptonite bullet. That's a bold move on Gunn's part, especially with so many fans anxious to see Henry Cavill reprise the role (they're not going to appreciate it if he's the butt of any jokes in The Suicide Squad).

We recently caught up with David Dastmalchian, and you can read his comments on playing Polka-Dot Man (and his work as Calendar Man in Batman: The Long Halloween) by clicking here.

"Welcome to hell — a.k.a. Belle Reve, the prison with the highest mortality rate in the US of A," reads the synopsis. "Where the worst Super-Villains are kept and where they will do anything to get out—even join the super-secret, super-shady Task Force X. Today’s do-or-die assignment? Assemble a collection of cons, including Bloodsport, Peacemaker, Captain Boomerang, Ratcatcher 2, Savant, King Shark, Blackguard, Javelin and everyone’s favorite psycho, Harley Quinn. Then arm them heavily and drop them (literally) on the remote, enemy-infused island of Corto Maltese."

"Trekking through a jungle teeming with militant adversaries and guerrilla forces at every turn, the Squad is on a search-and- destroy mission with only Colonel Rick Flag on the ground to make them behave...and Amanda Waller’s government techies in their ears, tracking their every movement. And as always, one wrong move and they’re dead (whether at the hands of their opponents, a teammate, or Waller herself). If anyone’s laying down bets, the smart money is against them—all of them."

The Suicide Squad will be released in theaters and on HBO Max on August 6th, 2021.
