Two decades after its groundbreaking debut which ushered in a whole new era of DC television, Smallville turns 20 this year, and to celebrate the momentous occasion, Warner Bros. Home Entertainment has finally released all ten seasons of the beloved series on Blu-ray in one epic Smallville: The Complete Series 20th Anniversary Edition box set.

While the entire series was previously only available in HD on digital platforms, the anniversary edition collector's box set is the first time ever the first five seasons of the show have been released on Blu-ray. This is something fans have been clamoring for since the show went off the air ten years ago, so it should be welcomed with open arms.

In addition to all 217 episodes, the set will also include over 28 hours of bonus features from all ten seasons, audio commentaries, deleted and extended scenes, gag reels, behind-the-scenes featurettes, and everything else that was previously released on the individual season sets.

Similar to the Supernatural: The Complete Series release, the packaging is quite compact, using ten Blu-ray cases to house the individual season discs and an extra case to hold all of the bonus discs. The new set is a considerable departure from the previous Complete Series DVD set and will take up a lot less space on your shelf, while looking pretty damn good from both the front and side views, which sport unique cover art featuring Clark Kent and his Superman suit.

Along with the physical discs, the box set also includes a one-time use only Digital HD code (redeemable on Vudu) for the complete series, allowing fans to take each one of Clark's adventures with them on the go.

Smallville will forever hold a special place in my heart. It's the show I grew up watching between the ages of 10 and 19 when finishing up my freshman year in college. Clark Kent's story of being an outsider and doing his best to find his purpose in the world, while remaining a fundamentally good person and staying true to himself, really resonated with a similarly uncertain Indian kid living in North Carolina trying to do the same.

It wasn't perfect by any means, but it was a genuine show made with so much heart, humor, and passion that there was rarely anything I wanted to do more than tune in for the latest chapter in Clark Kent's journey every week, watching him as he worked his way toward becoming the Man of Steel we know and love... and hoping that maybe, one day, I could do it too.

Smallville: The Complete Series 20th Anniversary Edition is the ultimate celebration of this beloved DC series and one release that absolutely can't be missed!

Be sure to check out our recent interview with stars Tom Welling (Clark Kent/Superman) and Michael Rosenbaum (Lex Luthor) below!

Loved this show back in the day. I can never forgive it though for just how truly awful the final season and especially the finale was. 😓

Cbtv owes a lot to this show. It’s goes downhill fast after season 5 or so but those first few seasons were pretty damn good for their time.

This show went straight to hell after season six,i can't believe it lasted for 10 years

Only season 10 was weak, had some great episodes but too much filler and set up, should've been the best season though. Especially after how WICKED season 9 was. Great show overall.

@KNIGHT3OOO - season 8 was pretty weak. Tuning doomsday into a werewolf and never giving us a good look at him. Even the final fight was a disapointment

@dracula - season 7 was bad too. I liked Supergirl and the idea of Clark having to “teach” Kara how to blend in and manage her abilities is great but then it got into that stupid amnesia side story.

I liked the Zor-El snd the energy the sinister energy he brought, and I thought he should’ve stuck around. Wasn’t a huge fan of his motives being “I’m horny for my sister in law” though. I would’ve much preferred they expanded on the plot from the smallville spin-off animated short chronicles of krypton where he believes he is the subject of one of Rao's prophecies and that he will create a New Krypton on Earth where he would live as a god. It’s a little General Zod-ish but I dug it mostly because the family angle made it a little more personal.

I also had a theory at the time that he would introduce Kandor and more survivors and that would make things more complicated for Clark. We got that in season 9;.

@dracula - Yeah season 8 was not great. I did like that they Gave Doomsday a back story. Side note, you notice how Tal-Rho's back story in Superman and Lois is very similar.

@KNIGHT3OOO - I liked the show even with the fillers my only complain was the last season & last episode for the whole season was 2 hours and that was a disappointment on how they ended it. A decade of Smallville as an avid watcher and it died with a whimper.

That turned me off to the rest of the DC shows only other show I watched on CW was Supernatural.

KNIGHT3OOO - 11/5/2021, 10:21 PM
@dracula - That is very true. If that last fight was better it would have made up for it. All that Davis Bloom crap was pretty annoying indeed

KNIGHT3OOO - 11/5/2021, 10:29 PM
@Matador - For real, that last episode was 1 big waiting game, that whole last season was 1 big waiting game. I read somewhere that the original plan was to have Clark be Superman for more episodes toward the end, but some people behind the scenes felt it wasn't "earned". I honestly think that is just lazy or unimaginative writing, because no series had earned it more than Smallville. Saying that it wasn't earned after 10 years is another way of admitting they just stopped caring enough to make it as epic as it deserved.

@KNIGHT3OOO - I just thought Superman & Darkseid would have a nice brawl before closing the Smallville doors not just push the planet away and call it a day.

What they should have done was separate the seasons.

1-5 Smallville
6-10 Metropolis
11-15 Superman (or cast someone else)

I remember the first time I read the death of Superman, I thought doomsday looked so cool, boy has DC messed that up. More than once now.

This feels like a good opportunity to get around to watching it, since this has been one of those shows that I always wanted to watch. Now I just gotta find the time to watch 217 episodes spread over 10 seasons.

dragon316 - 10/20/2021, 5:36 AM
Still good show but romance between Lana and Clark went on longer than it should have it should have stopped season 3 or four that got annoying fast nothing against actress I like her but give her something else to do in show besides being love interest to Clark they did with his parents
