John Barrowman (Arrow, Torchwood) has come under first for taking to Twitter to slate M. Night Shyamalan's new movie, Old. What's so awful about that, you may ask? Well, he tagged the director!

M. Night Shyamalan's latest movie, Old, has proved to be just as divisive as the rest of the filmmaker's more recent work, receiving mixed reviews from critics and a seemingly more negative response again from audiences.

Actor John Barrowman (Arrow, Torchwood) clearly wasn't a fan, sending out a Tweet lambasting the film and calling it "utter shite."

Barrowman has faced a considerable amount of backlash for this... not because of his take on the movie, but because he tagged Shyamalan in the Tweet!

Everyone is entitled to their opinion (no matter how vitriolic), but tagging the director of a movie you're tearing to shreds is really unnecessary and just a bit of a douche move overall, so it's hardly surprising that the actor has come under so much fire for this little stunt.

Shyamalan hasn't responded, and to be honest, we hope he doesn't feel the need to.

Based on the graphic novel Sandcastle by Pierre Oscar Lévy and Frederik Peeters, Old follows a family who go on vacation to a mysterious, secluded beach, where they come to the realization that they are ageing at a rapid rate. You can check out the trailere here.

Well, atleast Shyamalan gets to know about it firsthand if he checks his tags

@Superheromoviefan - I actually enjoy a few of his films (Signs, Split, The Village, The Visit, 6th Sense, Unbreakable) but holy crap was this bad.

@Cbmfilmjunkie - Maybe he should just stick with directing and leave the writing to others.

@Cbmfilmjunkie - I was young but boy I just remember everyone in the theatre sighing and being annoyed when the twist in The Village was shown.. that the monsters were just a guy in a suit Scooby Doo style 😂 I haven’t seen the film since but we all wanted to walk out 😂

@JohnCastillo - I think the twist was pretty well done and the monsters were actually very appropriate when given the context of what the film was about. The expectations of a crazy twist are what does him in sometimes. But I will stand by the village till my dying day.

@Cbmfilmjunkie - agreed. The Village is one of his better movies.

@Cbmfilmjunkie - I actually like more of his movies than I hate, but boy oh boy the ones I hate I pretty much hate completely. The Village lands on my like list. Though it was the first time his twist trope REALLY began showing its weakness.

@ElricReturns - I have a soft spot for ‘Lady in the Water.’ If you view it as a dreamscape of Giamatti unburdening his guilt, it actually works quite well.

@Cbmfilmjunkie - The Village is still a hated film amongst my friends 😂 we hated the twist. I love a monster film, that’s what we wanted to see, that’s what was marketed and it’s not what we got. Now I’m all down for good twists and surprises but I just didn’t love that one. But since you are all talking good about it, I might give it another watch.

@JohnCastillo - Me and my buddy hated The Village. It bored us to tears. So much so that we walked out of the theatre after about an hour. I don't know when in the movie, but we didn't even stay to see the twist.

@Cap1 - Didn’t he just get naked all the time? Never read anything about him shoving his dick in anyone’s face 😂 and he’s one the gayest guys I’ve seen, wouldn’t it be shoving it into a man’s face
Cap1
Cap1 - 7/24/2021, 12:35 PM
@JohnCastillo - here’s Noel Clarke talking about him putting it on Camille Coduri’s shoulder. What does ‘One of the gayest guys you’ve seen’ even mean? Can one man be gayer than another? Aren’t gay people just, gay? And if had he done it to men, is that somehow more justifiable?

JohnCastillo - 7/25/2021, 5:13 AM
@Cap1 - You know exactly what acting extremely gay means don’t act a fool 😂 I’m talking people who are camp as f**k. Nah man doing it to men doesn’t make it better, I was just saying since I hadn’t heard of that story, but thanks for informing me. He’s a creep, whether he did it to a man or woman just a creep. I had only heard of him walking around naked.

90 percent of people say this behind directors back. But sure, we are all morally superior.

@PsychoBatemen - Behind director’s backs is just voicing an opinion. But being a famous actor (with enough outrage surrounding him currently), demanding a refund from a theater because you didn’t like the movie you watched and then tagging the director director on social media just to tell him you did that and think is movie is shit is quite a bit different. But sure, if you think what he did wasn’t unnecessary and tasteless then I doubt your morals are far off from him anyway

@PsychoBatemen - gotta agree with you. It's not like he's saying anything about Shyamalan himself. And he is giving constructive criticism in the form of how the moral is shoved down your throat. This is such a stupid controversy, that really shows people have too much freetime.
