HBO Max has officially announced that the third season of Doom Patrol will hit the streaming service on September 23, and we have a suitably insane first teaser trailer for you guys to take a look at below.

Season 2 ended on something of a cliffhanger, with the increasingly unstable Dorothy (Abigail Shapiro) summoning the twisted Candlemaker to deal with the crew. The opening shots suggest that our band of misfit heroes will survive the encounter... or will they?

Honestly, it's a little difficult to make sense of much of anything in this promo, but we wouldn't want it any other way! We do get some teasing glimpses of a few new faces, including Brain, his gorilla assistant Monsieur Mallah, and the villainous Madame Rouge.

We also see some kind of creature with a butthole for a face - a crude, but accurate description we're sure you'll agree.

Specific season 3 plot details are still under wraps, but Larry Trainor/Negative Man (Matt Bomer), Cliff Steele/Robotman (Brendan Fraser), Elasti-Woman (April Bowlby), Crazy Jane (Diane Guerrero), The Chief (Timothy Dalton), and Victor Stone/Cyborg (Joivan Wade) will all be back for more brilliantly bizarre adventure.

Tell us, did you watch the first two seasons of Doom Patrol? If so, what did you think? Drop us a comment in the usual place.
