THE FALCON AND THE WINTER SOLDIER: First Look At Wyatt Russell As John Walker Revealed By Marvel Studios
We've seen set photos and promo art of Wyatt Russell suited up as the MCU's new Captain America, but an officially released still from The Falcon and The Winter Soldier highlights John Walker...
The Falcon and The Winter Soldier debuts on Disney+ tomorrow, and there's understandably a lot of excitement surrounding this next chapter in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. While it will be fun to catch up with Sam Wilson and Bucky Barnes, one of the most intriguing characters is John Walker.
Set photos, promo art, and officially released concept art have shown Wyatt Russell suited up as Captain America, but we've not really seen anything of Walker in his civilian guise.
Well, thanks to USA Today, we get a new look at the character alongside an unknown co-star.
"John Walker wouldn't be in this series if he was causing everything to go well," Russell teases. "There's a dynamic he adds that somewhat complicates the relationship of everybody involved." The actor also stressed the importance of being the one to wield the shield. "The shield doesn't itself represent something that's singular. It represents what somebody puts on it. So one guy puts his own version of what Captain America is on it and another person puts a version of what it is."
Showrunner Malcolm Spellman also weighs in, saying: "Walker speaks to this idea of American exceptionalism and the necessity we have in questioning it."
Walker clearly has military experience based on this still, and if he has PTSD or something similar, that could explain why we see a darker take on Captain America in The Falcon and The Winter Soldier.
We'll see, but make sure to check back here later for our review of the first episode!
