After production was delayed thanks to our old friend COVID-19, cameras are now rolling on Adam McKay's new Netflix sci-fi comedy Don't Look Up, and the first photos from the Boston set are now online.

Thanks to the @JenniferUpdates Twitter account, we have a first look at stars Jennifer Lawrence (X-Men, The Hunger Games) and Leonardo DiCaprio (Once Upon a Time In Hollywood, Inception) as they make their way through a crowd en route to film a scene together.

Both actors are clearly wearing their characters' outfits here, with Lawrence sporting red locks and a fringe, and a bespectacled DiCaprio rocking wavy hair and a goatee.

The all-star supporting cast consists of Meryl Streep, Cate Blanchett, Jonah Hill, Himesh Patel, Timothée Chalamet, Ariana Grande, Kid Cudi, Matthew Perry and Tomer Sisley, so we may also get a glimpse of some of them as shooting continues.

The sci-fi satire tells the story of two low-level astronomers who must go on a giant media tour to warn mankind of an approaching asteroid that will destroy Earth. McKay wrote the movie and will produce under his Hyperobject Industries banner with Kevin Messick. It was only recently confirmed that he'll also direct.

“I’m so thrilled to make this movie with Jen Lawrence. She’s what folks in the 17th century used to call ‘a dynamite talent’,” McKay said back when the project was first announced. “And the fact that Netflix sees this movie as a worldwide comedy sets the bar high for me and my team in an exciting and motivating way.”

Scott Stuber, head of Netflix films, added: “Adam has always had great timing when it comes to making smart, relevant and irreverent films that depict our culture. Even if he somehow ends up predicting planet Earth’s imminent demise, we’re excited to add this to our slate before it all comes to an end.”

Don't Look Up doesn't have an official premiere date, but we'll keep you updated.

Now it makes sense. This movie is why your Netflix subs price jumped again.

I liked The Big Short quite a bit but McKay dropped the ball hard with Vice. I liked Bale a lot in it, but it was such a surface level film that relied on so many obnoxious gimmicks

The cast alone has me interested in this film. Hopefully it's good.

There's a non-zero chance that fantastic cast gets mostly wasted. Anyway, this sound interesting & I'll happily watch Dicaprio in anything.

Idk, I really dig the cast, but Adam McKay doesn't inspire confidence. We'll see. Maybe it'll be a homerun

Premise sounds interesting, and I think the leads can work well. Will give this a chance because it's straight to Netflix anyway

Surprised DiCaprio isn't just playing himself, as I'd assumed. Is Rob Morgan no longer co-lead? If so, that is massively disappointing. Leo is good, but I was really looking forward to Morgan getting a starring role, the man is one of the most underrated people in Hollywood.

The last time she had red locks for Red Sparrow.

Well I like them both and also the director so I will check it out once it is done.
