WEDNESDAY: Tim Burton's ADDAMS FAMILY Spinoff Adds GAME OF THRONES Star Gwendoline Christie
Netflix and Tim Burton's upcoming Addams Family spinoff, Wednesday, has added Game of Thrones alum Gwendoline Christie as a new character named Larissa Weems, who sounds a lot like a villain...
Tim Burton's Wednesday has added another main cast member, with Gwendoline Christie set to join the creepy, kooky world of The Addams Family as a brand-new character.
The Game of Thrones alum will play Larissa Weems, the principal of Wednesday's school, Nevermore Academy, who "still has an ax to grind with her former classmate: Wednesday's mother, Morticia Addams." She joins Catherine Zeta-Jones as Morticia, Luis Guzmán as Gomez, and Jenna Ortega in the title role of Wednesday.
Christie will be best-known for her role as Ser Brienne of Tarth on Game of Thrones, but she also appeared as Captain Phasma in the first two Star Wars sequels. She has another big Netflix show in the works, too, as she's set to bring Lucifer to life in The Sandman.
The coming-of-age comedy series, which has Al Gough and Miles Millar (Smallville, Into the Badlands) on board as showrunners, is said to be "a sleuthing, supernaturally infused mystery charting Wednesday Addams’ years as a student at Nevermore Academy. Wednesday’s attempts to master her emerging psychic ability, thwart a monstrous killing spree that has terrorized the local town, and solve the supernatural mystery that embroiled her parents 25 years ago — all while navigating her new and very tangled relationships at Nevermore."
Burton will make his TV directing debut with the show, and will also executive produce alongside Jonathan Glickman, Andrew Mittman, Kayla Alpert, Gail Berman, Steve Stark, and Kevin Miserocchi. No production or premiere dates have been announced.
