Some (potentially) huge news from last last night here, as Variety reports that none other than pop megastar, Beyonce, is Disney and director Jon Favreau's top choice to voice Simba's childhood pal and eventual love interest, Nala, in their remake of The Lion King. Sources report that the Grammy winning singer/songwriter hasn't committed to the role yet, but that "the studio and director will do whatever it takes to accommodate her schedule."

Should Beyonce sign on, it would mark her first movie role since lending her voice to Fox's animated adventure, Epic. She has also appeared in the likes of Dreamgirls and Austin Powers: Goldmember.

The Lion King will see James Earl Jones reprise the role of Mufasa from the original, while Donald Glover will provide the voice of Simba. We could be in for quite a rendition of "Can you Feel the Love Tonight."
