Details For PHINEAS & FERB/STAR WARS Mash-Up; No Plans For STAR WARS/Marvel Crossover

Phineas And Ferb creators Dan Povenmire and Jeff "Swampy" Marsh offer new details for the planned Star Wars mash-up special, which will air next year. Additionally, Marvel Television's Cort Lane says that there are currently no plans to cross over into a galaxy far, far away.

With Phineas And Ferb: Mission Marvel having aired last night on Disney Channel, the hit animated series is set to crossover with another recently acquired Disney property next year. Speaking with Entertainment Weekly, Jeff "Swampy" Marsh and Dan Povenmire talk about the planned Phineas And Ferb/Star Wars mash-up which will air in 2014. The former offers new plot details, saying, "All of [the plot of A New Hope] happens exactly the way it did, but we find out that Phineas and Ferb are Luke’s neighbors on Tatooine and become embroiled in the adventure. Our story all takes place as if you had a slightly wider shot, you could see our characters. Or if you just waited around five minutes after this [Star Wars] storyline, our characters would pass through, which was really really fun to do."

Povenmire weighs in on the special's voice casting and trying to find the right actors for each role. "The Star Wars actors are now all 40 years older, so they don’t sound quite the same, so we’re trying to find people who sound like they did when they were young. The guy we had come in to do Harrison Ford sounded so much like young Harrison Ford. It was like, if you didn’t look up you thought, ‘We have Harrison Ford in the booth!’" And while we won't see the likes of Mark Hamill and Carrie Fisher reprising their iconic roles for the crossover, Marsh teases cameos from "a few fun folks that also really fit in in a weird way with the whole Star Wars universe."

After Phineas And Ferb crossed over with Disney's two biggest franchises, many have wondered if we will ever see a similar mash-up with Marvel superheroes and Star Wars characters. Marvel Television vice president of development and production Cort Lane tells EW that "there are no plans" for such a project. Of course, anything can change in the near future. Are you looking forward to the Phineas And Ferb/Star Wars special? Would you like to see a crossover between the iconic sci-fi franchise and Marvel?
