DC Entertainment's R-rated animated feature, Batman: The Killing Joke, is set to be released on Blu-ray and DVD this August, and below you'll find the first official synopsis along with a new image of Batgirl, who will be voiced by Tara Strong.

This character's treatment in Alan Moore's original graphic novel has been the focus of a lot of controversy, as she is only introduced a couple of panels before being shot, stripped naked and photographed by The Joker. The upcoming animated adaptation has addressed this issue by adding in a new Batgirl-centric sequence from Flashpoint Paradox director Jay Oliva.
