GET OUT Director Jordan Peele Reportedly In The Mix To Helm The Live-Action AKIRA Movie For Warner Bros.
It was recently reported that Daniel Espinosa and David F. Sandberg were potential candidates to direct Warner Bros.' live-action Akira adaptation, and now another intriguing name has emerged.
As Warner Bros. makes what must surely be one final attempt to get a live-action adaptation of Akira into production, another director's name has emerged as a potential candidate to step behind the camera. According to The Tracking Board, the studio is "moving aggressively to lock in Jordan Peele to direct coming off the mega-success of Get Out."
Just in case you're unaware, Get Out is an excellent satirical horror flick that's taken the world by storm, and has clearly catapulted Peele into a position that's going to land him some big budget blockbuster projects... if he wants them, that is. The filmmaker has already said that he has another batch of "social thrillers" that he plans to tackle, so he may well pass on WB's offer.
What do you guys think? Is Peele the right man for this job? Maybe you'd prefer it if Akira went back into development hell? Drop us a comment below.
