Warner Bros. is having
some fun with the marketing of
Detective Pikachu, the upcoming live-action
Pokemon movie. Ahead of the film's theatrical release this week, it seems someone has "leaked" the entirety of the movie online.
It was actually star Ryan Reynolds who discovered the leak and brought it to Warner Bros.' attention, which is fitting considering he's voicing the wise-cracking super-sleuth in the movie.
The "leak," which by now you probably realize is a giant troll job by Warner Bros., comes from the account "Inspector PIkachu." And it's not the full movie; it's actually two hours of Pikachu dancing adorably. But it does give the initial impression that it's real because the first minute or so does seem to be footage from the beginning of the actual movie.
Detective Pikachu officially releases in theaters on May 10, so the wait to see the first ever live-action
Pokemon movie isn't that much longer. Reviews
hit the web last week and it seems the studio has a hit on its hands. With 65 reviews counted, Detective Pikachu
sits at a 71% on Rotten Tomatoes, a rather impressive score - especially for a video game adaptation which tend to be a letdown more often than not.
