Edgar Wright On The Challenge Of Making ANT-MAN PG-13

The World's End director has been notoriously tight lipped when it comes to his big-screen take on the diminutive Marvel superhero, and that continues in a chat with SFX. However, he does comment on having to "entertain in a different way" with the movie, as well as the level of comedy we can expect.

When Edgar Wright and frequent collaborator's Simon OPegg and Nick Frost sat down with SFX, the trio were quizzed about Ant-Man. Pegg and Frost are big comic book fans, but neither are likely to appear in the movie...with Pegg joking that if Wright asked him to he'd "think about it, but as his friend and his lawyer, I would advise strongly against asking me.” The interviewer goes on to try to get more info on the project from Wright, but it's no use - the director is a rock! He does reveal that because he's used to making R-rated movies that it might be difficult to tone down certain elements to better suit Marvel's standard PG-13 rating. “In a way, it’s a challenge,” he tells the mag. “It’s a challenge to do. Shaun and Hot Fuzz and World’s End are all R-rated films. I like the challenge of making a PG-13 film. Because you’ve got to entertain in a different way. You don’t have the same tools. It’s also different in terms of Scott Pilgrim. They’re both adaptations. It’s nice to be able to do an adaptation." He also relents and agrees to answer one direct question: how much humor will be present in the movie? “I think it would be as funny as the other Marvel movies that have come out.” So, a lot then.
