POLL: Should Marvel Studios Include Ant-Man & The Wasp In The Avengers?

POLL: Should Marvel Studios Include Ant-Man & The Wasp In The Avengers? POLL: Should Marvel Studios Include Ant-Man & The Wasp In The Avengers?

Although recent news seems to point to the characters not being in The Avengers, here's your chance to vote for whether you think they should be a part of the 2012 epic...

Writer and director of the movie, Joss Whedon said at Comic-Con that Ant-Man and The Wasp won't be a part of the team. The two actors who were apparently almost locked in to play the characters, Nathan Fillion and Eva Longoria, both denied having anything to do with the roles last week. And now, the writer and director of the Ant-Man solo movie (Edgar Wright) said that in a discussion he had with Kevin Feige they decided that it’ll be an, “…introduction to that character, and so it wasn’t something where it felt right to introduce him in that film.”

In my opinion, it's important that both of these characters are part of the first team of Avengers. A big part of that is of course the fact that they're two of the founding members. It's a pity that Marvel Studios didn't think of introducing them both in either of the Iron Man movies or even Captain America or Thor but as I've said in the past, it would still be easy enough to just bring them in as S.H.I.E.L.D scientists who are drafted onto the team just as Mark Millar did in a one or two page sequence in <> a few years back!

Of course, there's still a chance that in the next year or so they will indeed be made a part of The Avengers. After all, Jeremy Renner played down and denied the Hawkeye rumours and all these months later he's now been officially made part of the cast! Who's to say Fillion an Longoria aren't being told to do the same!? Regardless, here's your chance to have your say over whether YOU think they should be in the upcoming epic. And who knows? If we get enough votes, Marvel might just listen...

I’ll announce the results in three days time on August 6th!

Of course. Without them, there's no Ultron. And without Ultron, there's no Avengers.

if they had time then by all means yes,
but no, 2012 is the date, so just deal with it,
they'll come around eventually,
it's not like Beast or Angel butchering in X-men 3,
not to mention iceman's lack of iceform

Interesting...I thought that pretty much everybody wanted them to be in The Avengers as part of the team, rather than just as Hank and Jan! Regardless, I've
voted "YES" but unless they did a very quick introduction similar to what I've described above, I dont see how they'd have the time either. At this point, it probably
does make more sense for Marvel Studios to give them a cameo and then a proper origin in the solo Ant-Man movie, making them actual team members in The
Avengers II
. That's the sensible way I guess but it angers the fanboy inside of me, lol! :P

they need to have some version of Hank Pym so that he can create Ultron and Vision, I don't think they can delegate that task to anyone else

Yes, they are an important part of the team.

Yes I want to see them in the movie universe.

NO, it doesn't have to be in the first movie. They have enough to get done in that one bringing the team together and establishing Hawkeye.

I don't really care. If Hank and Jan are in the Avengers, great, if not, no major loss. It's not like we won't see them in the near future.

Hank and Janet yes to lead in to maybe an Ant-Man movie. Too many heroes in one film to start off may be overkill

Hank Pym & Janet Van Dyne as Giant Man and Wasp but save Ant Man for there solo film after avengers.

Agree they introduced Hawkeye and that is good enough, dont overkill it I think

I don't care which of his many personas Hank Pym appears as, even it's just as "Hank Pym: Scientific Adventurer" so long as he appears in the Avengers. Even the filth-infested Ultimates included both of the Pyms on the team. There is NO good reason for them not to be there. Oh, the mainstream audience doesn't know them? Fine- it wouldn't take a minute to do their backstories.
Ranger14
Ranger14 - 8/3/2010, 1:24 PM
Erickz@ Pym is a scientist whose contributions to the Avengers is unmeasurable. He is an integral part of the Avengers story. Because Janet is such a strong part of his story, she is important as well.

If i could decide?... YES!! They would be part of the team! But i dont think the movie is going to suck if they leave them out!

Ps. Here´s a thought? Why dont they introduce Henry Pym and Janet in the Avengers and Scott Lang as the main character in the Ant-Man movie?! I think that could work?
Urban8er
Urban8er - 8/3/2010, 1:31 PM
They should be like S.H.I.E.L.D agents working on Ultron. That would be pretty cool
StevilNYC
StevilNYC - 8/3/2010, 1:32 PM
I would like them to be introduced together with Fury explaining these are the two scientists who created the Avenger Initiative. That way they're in the movie and the origin story remains true. Janet and Hank named the Avengers.
HelaGood
HelaGood - 8/3/2010, 1:39 PM
i hope they have a scene in "The Avengers" where Tony takes a hair of Thor and keeps it for later... for Ragnarok
fanboiii
fanboiii - 8/3/2010, 1:47 PM
Wasp and Antman aren't necessary. They don't really offer anything unique. Why would the Avengers need them? They have Bruce Banner and Tony Stark for all the science. Hulk and Thor for all the muscle, and Captain America for leadership. I don't see how they would be useful in the movie.
MassExecutions
MassExecutions - 8/3/2010, 1:47 PM
@AlexDeLarge666 - Yes, Scott Lang can be the focus of Wright's movie. Exactly.

Why the hate for Wright? He hasn't made a bad movie yet. Yeah he'll bring a comedic tone to it, but hell, a movie about a guy who can grow, shrink, and talk to ants can't avoid this. Best to embrace it, to a certain extent.
cfho83
cfho83 - 8/3/2010, 1:48 PM
y,do u need them in the movie, i just don't want the avengers to turn out like x-men 3. just concentrate on the main cast, and when it does good, add more. that is just my opinion, it is the little things that make the marvel movies great, and if u don't have to worry about screen time and concentrate on the story, u can't help but make a great film. but as of now, damn ant-man and the wasp, they could use the budget that they would spend to hire the actors, and do the effects for those 2 characters, and make the original cast, their stories, interactions, and effects epic.
Denn1s
Denn1s - 8/3/2010, 1:51 PM
they have to be in it but they wouldn't work. an ant man and a wasp? sounds a bit stupid but they should be in it as founding members. at least keep them as scientists of shield
JoshWilding
JoshWilding - 8/3/2010, 2:02 PM
I think Edgar Wright will do a great job with Ant-Man. Personally, I also think that it should focus on Scott Lang while also exploring the origins and characters of Hank and Jan. However, I still think that they should definitely have some sort of role in The Avengers! If they dont, it wont ruin the movie for me though...it would be [frick]ing awesome to see Giant Man fighting the Hulk though, lol! :P I just wish Marvel Studios had introduced them before now because we might not get another Avengers movie for 2/3/4 years so it'll be a long time before we see them on the team if they're not there in 2012!
dcpaper
dcpaper - 8/3/2010, 2:26 PM
cfho83@ if you just do that and add more and more then by Avengers 3 there will be to many charecters
Destroyer14
Destroyer14 - 8/3/2010, 2:30 PM
Maybe Ant-Man and Wasp won't be called by their super hero names. Instead, they could be scientists that work for Shield. That would be simple and effective. (With an Ultron cameo of course.)
JonF
JonF - 8/3/2010, 2:37 PM
It's become obvious to me, given Joss Whedon's apparent indifference to these characters, that the cinematic Avengers will be a version of the team unto itself, which is odd considering that Marvel is self-producing it. It looks as though the mentality of Ant-Man and the Wasp not being important enough to include in the first Avengers film is coming from within Marvel! Feige, perhaps? Careful, Marvel - remember Fox already made this blunder with the X-Men franchise!

it would be intresting ...giant man vs the hulk in the movie! the wasp...... nah.... not really.... maybe just for something pretty to look at!

I myself would love to see Giant-man/Goliath and Wasp.

If Marvel/Edgar Wright is worried about Ant-man not fitting in then hell, leave Ant-Man out! Let Pym be Giant-Man/Goliath in the Avengers film and then later in the Ant-Man movie let Lang be the Ant-man with Pym as the mentor/whatever.

considering the 2 of them named the Avengers...i think they should, its not a HUGE deal but it definitely sux they won't be responsible for the name.
