AQUAMAN Director James Wan Says He Still Hasn't Signed On To Helm Any Sequels
Aquaman has yet to swim into US theaters but it has already made a huge splash in China, which means Warner Bros. likely knows its on to a good thing. However, James Wan hasn't committed to a sequel...
Aquaman has already had an historic box office run in China, and while it has yet to open in North America, there's no reason to assume that it won't enjoy the same sort of success on its home shores.
One would assume Warner Bros. is fairly confident that The King of Atlantis' first solo adventure is going to deliver and has at least discussed the possibility of a sequel with James Wan, but, if that is the case, the director has yet to commit to anything.
When Variety asked Wan how many Aquaman movies he'd signed up for, he revealed that it was just the one. "We'll see... let's not talk about a sequel before this one's even come out!"
Of course, if the movie performs as well as expected then Wan probably will end up back on board for a sequel, as he seemed to have a blast making the first one and has a great rapport with the cast.
From Warner Bros. Pictures and director James Wan comes an action-packed adventure that spans the vast, visually breathtaking underwater world of the seven seas, “Aquaman,” starring Jason Momoa in the title role. The film reveals the origin story of half-human, half-Atlantean Arthur Curry and takes him on the journey of his lifetime—one that will not only force him to face who he really is, but to discover if he is worthy of who he was born to be…a king.
Aquaman swims into theaters on December 21.
