AQUAMAN Star Jason Momoa Says That Henry Cavill Is "Absolutely Not" Leaving The Role Of Superman AQUAMAN Star Jason Momoa Says That Henry Cavill Is "Absolutely Not" Leaving The Role Of Superman

There have been conflicting reports that Henry Cavill has parted ways with the role of Superman for quite a while now, but Aquaman star Jason Momoa seems fairly certain that he's still on board...

Jason Momoa gave a diplomatic answer when he was asked about the Henry Cavill/Ben Affleck DCEU situation during a recent interview, but this time the Aquaman star has provided a far more definitive response.

Momoa was asked whether Cavill will be back as Superman while chatting to ET at the premiere of Aquaman, and told them that the Mission: Impossible - Fallout actor is “absolutely not" stepping away from the iconic DC hero.

“I just talked to Henry… He’s absolutely not [leaving the character],”
he said. “He loves the character, he’s not. 100 percent.”

This obviously contradicts the recent rumor that Cavill has hung up the cape, but it wouldn't be the first conflicting report to do the rounds since the original story was published.

At any rate, hopefully this isn't just a case of Momoa putting a positive spin on things, and Cavill will indeed return as The Man of Steel at some point.

True. Like Cavill would really leave being Superman.

Until they actually cast someone else, assume that both sides are comfortable leaving it open-ended because they both know a deal is there once they want it.

If you're Cavill, maybe you think you can get RDJ money at some point. Maybe you wait and see if Aquaman bombs and they need you more. And if you're the studio, maybe you hope Aquaman succeeds and you can tell Cavill you like him but he isn't ever getting RDJ money.

There's a contract between those points.

@BritishMonkey - If Henry Cavill remains as Superman, I will bust a nut.

Everyone, please look the other way and cover your ears. At this age, it ain't a pretty sight.

But I STILL want Cavill's Superman to drop the dark edge, and go for the more optimistic, smiling, Big Blue Boy Scout from the comics. Hell, maybe the success from Aquaman (and I think it will be a HUGE hit!) will bring a lighter tone to the DC Films universe, a WELCOME change.

And I am busting a GUT for the Flash and Green Lantern movies! And then...

HAWKMAN!!!!!!!!!

@bropous - I feel like Cavill wants to do that kind of Superman too. He just needs the right director and writer

He's not leaving. But he's also not playing Superman at the moment. In fact, he wouldn't be playing Supes for a very long while.

WB needs to get on a Man of Steel 2. Give it to a good writer and a good director, and have a cameo from some other DC heroes if you must, but they need to show faith in their big guns.

Once again, if WB knows what they are doing with their universe, they sure as hell aren't interested in sharing that with the audience.

@PsychoticSpaceRaccoon - I would like to see Cyborg get a prominent role in MOS2. If somehow a Cyborg solo movie lands up being scrapped, then why not use Cyborg and team him up with Superman.

Momoa has been on fire.

Demanding the Snyder Cut...Backing Cavill to stay as Superman. What’s next? Headlining the first DCEU film into the Billion club?
