Production on Warner Bros.' Aquaman 2 is scheduled to get underway soon, and the first major casting addition has been revealed.

Deadline reports that former Game of Thrones alum Pilou Asbaek is in final talks to join the DC Comics sequel, though no details on his role have been provided. He'll join the returning Jason Momoa as the King of Atlantis, and Amber Heard as Mera (no, she hasn't been fired).

James Wan will return to direct, and will also produce alongside Peter Safran. David Leslie Johnson-McGoldrick is writing the script.

Asbaek will be best known as the vicious Euron Greyjoy on the later seasons of HBO's Game of Thrones, but he's also appeared in the likes of Ghost in The Shell, Overlord, Run Sweetheart Run, and Netflix's Over the Wire. He will next star opposite Sylvester Stallone in MGM’s Samaritan.

We still don't know what to expect from the plot, but it's assumed that Black Manta (Yahya Abdul-Mateen II) will be the main villain this time. There's also a good chance that The Trench will feature more prominently, given Wan's fondness for the deep-sea terrors.

Who do you guys think Asbaek will play in Aquaman 2? Drop us a comment down below.
