New AQUAMAN And SHAZAM! Stills Feature King Atlan And A Powered Up Doctor Sivana

Things are finally starting to look up for Warner Bros. and the DC Extended Universe with both Aquaman and Shazam! now on the horizon and looking like they'll be a lot of fun. The latest issue of Empire Magazine features a fresh look at both movies with the spotlight put on Shazam, Freddie Freeman, and a powerful looking Doctor Sivana who might just be able to tear Billy Batson in two!

On the Aquaman front, we see Arthur Curry and Mera discovering a message from King Atlan as he wields his trident and seemingly sets the heroes on the right path to finding that and ruling Atlantis.

If we're lucky, new trailers for both movies are on the horizon and will be with us sooner rather than later. There's already speculation that another Aquaman sneak peek will be attached to Venom but nothing has been confirmed and that spot could easily end up going to Captain Marvel! Some fans have been critical of Zachary Levi's costume in Shazam! but it's hard not to look at this and be impressed. With any luck, it's indicative of how it will look on the big screen flying into action.

In this image (which should be attached to the one above but they were scanned from separate pages), we see Freddie Freeman watching Shazam in action while sporting a very cool Superman t-shirt.

Worried that Doctor Sivana wouldn't be a formidable threat to Shazam? Well, this image makes it clear that Mark Strong's villain will power himself up as he looks to gain The Wizard's amazing powers.

Remember that goofy looking device Aquaman and Mera were looking at in a previously released still? Well, here we get a much better look at that as a projection of King Atlan somehow surfaces from it.

Can they switch the release dates? Shazam is set during christmas and it defenitely feels like it.

Some fans have been critical of Zachary Levi's costume in Shazam! but it's hard not to look at this and be impressed.

Speak for yourself. It's a shame such excessive muscle padding was used on a suit that has a really great and classic design to cover up Levi's build. His head looks small and the shoulder and arm areas look terrible.

disappointed that Mark Strong won't be reprising his role as Sinestro ...he was the only good thing in that awful movie.

Sam Rockwell or Gary Sinise would have been better as this Shazam villain.

@emeraldtaurus - I think it's good to have Mark Strong, someone with gravitas who can be legitimately intimidating, as the big bad next to Zachary Levi's childish and comedic performance as the front and center of it.
