One of the things that disappointed me about Endgame was that Hulk never had his moment, even the infinity stone snap was underwhelming.

After the set up in Infinity War and mention of Gamma radiation I was hoping he'd hulk out and go toe to toe with Thanos again. He felt pretty neutered through the film.

@Radders - yep

@Radders - Yeah, he got a lot of great plot and character moments, but he didn't get much in the way of action beats. I think the joke is that Professor Hulk doesn't really do "Smash".

Spock0Clock
Spock0Clock - 8/20/2019, 2:49 AM
Didn't they say he was somewhat smaller than ordinary Hulk, too?
Chewtoy
Chewtoy - 8/20/2019, 6:42 AM
@Spock0Clock - I do wonder if they ever considered a Hulk Vs. Hulk sequence in Endgame, with prof. Hulk bumping into his raging past version.
IronMandarin

@Spock0Clock - @KingCipher -

I find it hard to believe that his arm would just never heal considering that Hulk has a healing factor.

That said I think the fact that he's always Professor Hulk now means that he's sacrificed most of his strength and rage in return for intelligence. Hence why he's notably smaller than regular Hulk because the madder he gets the larger he would get.

So essentially being Professor Hulk is inhibiting his power to regenerate.

Honestly, wasnt a big fan pf smart Hulk... he served his purpose, but it would of been nice to see the "original" hulk do some smashing and get a rematch with Thanos, even if he lost again... oh well
Origame
Origame - 8/20/2019, 3:31 AM
@MotherGooseUPus - or maybe even just have this movie be about him learning to accept the hulk. Imagine if he had to keep convincing savage hulk to come out, then they realize no one can use the gauntlet without dying and the avengers argue about who will sacrifice themselves, banner goes into his psyche to convince hulk to share his place with banner, making smart hulk. Just seeing that arc we were told about would've been 1000x more effective, and hardly damaging to the plot since he doesn't even really use his hulk strength in any meaningful way until the end.

@Origame - i like that idea alot... coulda shoulda woulda... but i mean Endgame was awesome, but could of been better and this would of helped alot imo

Origame - 8/20/2019, 11:40 AM
@MotherGooseUPus - i don't even get how that didn't happen though. They clearly set up an arc for banner figuring stuff out with hulk then resolve it off screen. I can't even believe these movies were filmed back to back.

Hulk got shafted in Infinity War and Endgame one of if not the only major gripe I had with the movies. He didn’t even get an action sequence in Endgame. In a three hour movie. And his character arc was completed off screen. So utterly unsatisfying especially after how great he was in Ragnarok.

Despite what they say here I hope they don’t actually keep him permanently damaged so that he can have at least one last ride as Hulk at his very best. They don’t actually spell it out that he is permanently damaged. Neither him nor Thanos had all that long to heal. And there are geniuses aplenty in the MCU and tons of technology (Wakanda alone has plenty of both). Although if he just shows up healed in his next appearance I don’t think many are going question it at all.

It sucks that they can’t make a Hulk movie. Because one set between Infinity War and Endgame where we actually see Bruce struggling to come to grips with losing to Thanos twice. Where we actually see him work out things with the Hulk and figure out how to put his two selves together. While having to stop The Leader from trying to take advantage of a suddenly vulnerable world. A world that is half abandoned so that there are lots and lots of things for the Hulk to smash guilt free. It could be such a kick ass movie. Especially after the character has had to carry their water for all these movies.

I was wondering if he’d transform back and then hulk out again to heal. We know transforming can even heal banner from death so I figured the other way could work too but maybe that’s changed now that they are one

@Ha1frican - I don’t think he can go back. They’re one person now, which was the goal.

That answers is that best they can offer and I get it. Only gamma-tier level beings have the chance to live and tell the story after using the six Stones.

What I still want to know is why the Nano Gauntlet was acting all over the place and hurting him and Thanos like that when in Infinity War it was not anywhere near that bad with the Infinity Gauntlet that Eitri did.

I guess I will never find out. 🤔
Chewtoy
Chewtoy - 8/20/2019, 6:46 AM
@NinnesMBC - Either Tony’s tech isn’t as good as Eitri’s when it comes to channeling the power of the stones, or it’s simply because Thanos gradually built up to full power in Infinity War, adding stones one at a time, instead of suddenly donning all of them at once as in Endgame.
NinnesMBC
NinnesMBC - 8/20/2019, 8:57 AM
@Chewtoy - Those are exactly and often as well the conclusions that I end up getting when I ask myself this. There really doesn’t seem to be anything else that explains it, isn’t it?

Tony is a genius inventor but he did not create Stormbreaker like Eitri did which gave Thor an edge to cancel Thanos' Infinity Gauntlet. And there surely is a difference in collecting step by step each Stone to a Gauntlet rather than putting them all at the same time at once like they did at their HQ.

The 3rd and final option that I have is that the Stones were anachronisms and since they were taken out of their own respective timelines that was the effect when their combined power were being syphoned in the present.

But usually I lean more towards the former two reasons that you also share. 🧐

Hey friends. Off topic but I found another Easter egg. It's highly likely you astute individuals already know this

But i watched winter soldier the other day. The song playing when cap opens his apartment door and sees injured nick fury sitting down, is the exact same song playing at the end of end game when he is having his dance with Peggy Carter

It's been a long, long time by Harry James

As far as I'm concerned, Norton's Hulk is the real Hulk. The Hulk after the recast is an insult to the character.

What bothers me is they're ignoring Hulk's ability to heal. It's on par with Wolverine's and yet they're doing that a disservice.

Hulk should remained injured until he faces a villian that causes rage so great that Banner is pushed to the background of their consciousness and savage Hulk takes over and grows and heals to really become the strongest there is. Right now he has not earned that title in the MCU. Another set of directors can take up this character arc.

I kind of like it as avenue to get the Savage Hulk back. Bruce messing with super-science to try and repair his arm unleashes the beast. Then have him run off into the Canadian wilderness; queue Fury calling in a certain 6 clawed Canadian specialist to take him down.
AnthonyVonGeek
AnthonyVonGeek - 8/20/2019, 8:29 AM
Bring back the savage Hulk! He’s stronger and heals faster. Savage Hulk would look at his arm and scream “PUNY BANNER” then get so mad his arm would start to heal because the madder he is the stronger he gets and heals faster. At least that’s how it used to be. The Smart Hulk/Professor Hulk is so weak and honestly boring when compared to the savage Hulk.
