In Avengers: Endgame, Cap, Iron Man, Smart Hulk and Ant-Man travel back to the events of Joss Whedon's first Avengers movie in an attempt to retrieve some of the Infinity Stones, and after dropping in on the aftermath of the Battle of New York, they encounter a few very familiar faces.

To portray the past versions of their characters for this nostalgic sequence, the cast donned their original Avengers: Assemble outfits, and directors Joe and Anthony Russo have now shared a new behind-the-scenes snap of Chris Evans, Robert Downey Jr., Tom Hiddleston, Scarlett Johansson, Jeremy Renner, and Chris Hemsworth in their old school superhero costumes, along with Mark Ruffalo in his Hulk mo-cap gear.

What did you guys think of this scene and the team's time-travel shenanigans in general?

The Eternals

Related image

Although The Eternals are never directly referenced, Captain Marvel makes it very clear that what's happening on Earth after The Decimation is happening all across the universe, so one can't help but wonder if Carol's outer space adventures during the events of Endgame might somehow tie-in to the introduction of Marvel Studios' next cosmic super-team.

The Plot of The Eternals is still under wraps, but we do know that Sersi (Angelina Jolie, probably) likes to live among humans, so there's also a chance she was on Earth for "The Snap" and the aftermath.

Young Avengers

If Marvel does decide to introduce a younger incarnation of Earth's Mightiest Heroes, they already have a few options for the roster.

Hawkeye's daughter Lila seems pretty handy with a bow and arrow, and could always take over her father's mantle now that Clint Barton is (presumably) retired. Plus, Cassie Lang is now a teenager and might decide to suit-up as Stature at some point. More unlikely is Harley Keener - the kid from Iron Man 3 who shows up for Tony Stark's funeral at the end - who has been the source of Iron Lad speculation for years now.

Of course, there is also a more direct descendant of The Armored Avenger, but more on that later.

The New Asgardians

At the end of the movie, Thor leaves New Asgard in the capable hands of Queen Valkyrie. We know The God of Thunder will be jetting off with the Guardians, but surely we'll return to that little coastal town full of viking aliens at some point, right?

If not, it'd be a wasted opportunity, because the continuing adventures of Korg, Miek and the others is something that needs to be explored - if not on the big screen, then on the new Disney+ streaming service.

Black Widow

So, looks like that Black Widow movie is definitely gonna be a prequel!

Natasha Romanov meeting her end in Avengers: Endgame doesn't so much set up the character's solo film as it does confirm that the soon-to-shoot project will take place before the events of the Infinity Saga finale, and will most likely focus on Nat's days as a Russian spy/assassin.

There is some speculation that Widow could somehow be resurrected, but that seems highly unlikely and would seriously cheapen her noble sacrifice on Vormir.

Iron Man Girl

Okay, so Morgan Stark is far too young to even start thinking about the superhero gig, but if Marvel ever does decide to continue the solo Iron Man franchise, they do have the perfect person to take up the mantle of the Armored Avenger... in a few years, that is.

Of course, we also saw Pepper Potts suit-up as Rescue at the end of the movie - but Gwyneth Paltrow recently confirmed that she'd be leaving the MCU after Endgame, so her continuing on in her late husband's place seems unlikely.

Professor Hulk

Related image

Was this the last we'll see of Bruce Banner/The Hulk in The MCU?

While most of the other original Avengers' stories came to pretty definitive ends, Professor Hulk (Prulk?) is still active at the end of the movie. Granted, one arm seems severely damaged after using the Infinity Gauntlet, but one would assume that wouldn't keep The Green Goliath out of action for good.

Another solo Hulk movie remains very unlikely, but the fact that this version of the character is a fully CG creations definitely leaves room for him to return in some capacity, even if it's just for an occasional cameo appearance.

A-Force

We've been hearing whispers of a possible all-female Avengers movie for a while now, and Endgame definitely teases its potential.

During the final battle, Spider-Man asks Captain Marvel how she intends to fight her way through Thanos' minions with the Infinity Gauntlet, and every female hero on the field - including Valkyrie, Wanda, Wasp, Okoye, Mantis and more - comes to her aid.

To be honest, it's a bit of a clumsy sequence, but it might give us some idea of how an A-Force movie's roster would look should Marvel ever decide to move forward with one.

GOTG Vol. 3

Image result for thor and the gotg

The third Guardians of the Galaxy movie is still a few years off, but Endgame actually does a great job of setting up the plot.

After Stark's funeral, Thor joins his space-faring pals for some more intergalactic adventures and will, presumably, still be a part of the team by the time Vol. 3 comes our way. Plus, with the new (or should that be old?) Gamora MIA, Star-Lord and the others have the perfect mission to kick things off by tracking her down and convincing her to join the crew.

Captain America

Image result for falcon captain america

At the very end of the film, Steve Rogers passes the mantle of Captain America to Sam Wilson, setting the stage for a brand new Sentinel of Liberty in The MCU. The question is, will Sam wield the shield on the big screen?

We know there's a Falcon and The Winter Soldier Disney+ series in the works (although that might takes place before the events of Endgame), but it would be a shame if we didn't see this new incarnation of the iconic hero make an impact in the Marvel Cinematic Universe as well.

The New Avengers

Endgame may be the final installment in The Infinity Saga, but we know it's not going to be the last Avengers movie! It may take quite some time, but Marvel will put together a new team of Earth's Mightiest Heroes at some point, and many fans expected Endgame to give us an idea of which characters we'd see on the roster.

Unfortunately, things still seem a little up in the air on that front.

It's assumed that Captain Marvel and Black Panther will return in leadership roles, and they'll likely be joined by Ant-Man, The Wasp, Doctor Strange, Wanda, Rhodey, and hopefully our new Captain America. Bucky is also a possibility, as are supporting characters such as Shuri and Wong.

We'll just have to wait and see how Phase 4 develops.

Forever grateful for this. I almost fell off the mcu train in 2015 but I’m glad I didn’t. It’s truly been great experiencing all of this. I look forward to phase 4 and beyond in eagerness. I know marvel has a lot of goodies in store for us. And to the OG six “We ❤️ You 3000”

@PantherKing - May I ask what made you almost quit the MCU?

@LandGrizzle - I honestly don’t know. There was all this talk about superhero fatigue on this site and what not. It was on every YouTube channel I turned to and it almost affected my perspective on things but I’m glad I shut it out.

@PantherKing - yeah you can't stick around the negativity. Us humans are very susceptible to having our minds corrupted. It's a shame. best to just avoid it

@Vigor - Yeah that’s true. After Age of Ultron this site had an up tick of marvel naysayers and the superhero fatigue headlines following all around the internet after Age of Ultron failed to beat Avengers at the box office. That’s why I’m looking forward to Phase 4 and the greatness that will be ensuing post endgame.

This movie really changed the game. I remember shedding a tear or 2 when they finally teamed up then continued losing it when they were working together.

I loved the time travel. Why? Because it is new and fresh for these heroes. I can tell Feige says to himself for every movie, what can we do that is new and interesting. The only Marvel formula I see is making entertaining movies.

I was actually impressed at how much they resembled their 2012-selves. They adjusted every little detail with Hawkeye and Loki's hair, Stark's facial features, etc. It was 95% perfect.

Shout out to the original Avengers movie and Joss Whedon. It's still my favorite movie of the series. The Avengers franchise alone without even without the other amazing MCU installments is one of the greatest of all time, if not the greatest. Put some respect on Joss. Russo's are obviously great as well.

Such a happy and colorful time for these heroes. As the films went on they have all been through some trauma and tragedy.
