All i'm thinking is...when will there be another movie that will fight for highest grossing? Avatar was a bit of a planets aligned situation with everything going for it and Endgame was being built for 11 years so....what could even compete?

@Kevwebsz - If endgame doesn't beat Avatar and Marvel continues to make movies audiencences enjoy, I will say that Avengers vs X-Men might beat it. I don't see the Avatar sequels to come anywhere near to the numbers of the first one

Love the movie but that extra footage was dogshit. The Lee tribute should have been posted online

If you're still mad that this movie hasn't achieved the mark of being the highest grossing movie of all time then you are severely missing the success that this film has truly made. No other Superhero film may EVER come this close in financial success.

Its over, its not beating Avatar. And that wasnt even the goal of this re release, it was to boost Spiderman.

Its too big of a hill to climb, they'll get to like within 20 mill or so and thats it.

Shame to come so close and not do it but it is what it is. China not giving it the extension really hurt, they say that could have gotten them an extra 10 mill.

@Chris827

It was absolutely 100% trying to beat Avatar. Of course it’s going to boost Spider-Man but that’s also a Sony movie.

@Chris827 -

I said it on the other thread but the fact that this was more of an expansion than a true re-release leaves the door open for them to truly re-release it either later this year or early next year prior to BW, possibly with additional footage that doesn't really alter the narrative structure of the original cut. Even without the extra footage, just waiting until it's truly finished it's initial run and then tacking it back into theaters during a dead month would be enough if they don't catch Avatar here.

The rushed and almost half assed nature of this one doesn't seem like something you do as your last ditch effort to catch Avatar unless you really believe people will watch anything with an MCU logo attached to it in droves on short notice

@regularmovieguy - No it wasnt dude. REad any of the box office guys/trades and they all say same thing. It was about boosting Spiderman not Avatar.

The reissue was always about boosting Spider-Man: Far From Home and punking Warner Bros,' Annabelle Comes Home, and in that sense it was a success. The expanded screen count was partially about being able to supply increased demand stemming from Spider-Man and the extra footage was mostly to make sure we all speculated about it. The reissue was about building excitement for Far From Home, but if Far From Home re-ups excitement for Avengers: Endgame, there you go. It won't be enough to overcome the current $27 million deficit, but c'est la vie.
