AVENGERS: ENDGAME Star Chris Evans Reflects On Getting "Emotional" Seeing Audience's Reaction To Mjolnir Scene

Avengers: Endgame star Chris Evans looks back on being in the audience for the premiere of the film, and his "emotional" reaction to seeing the audience's response to Captain America lifting Mjolnir!

Avengers: Endgame is the perfect example of a film which is best enjoyed in a theater. The reaction to those big moments are unforgettable, and videos of fans responding wildly to everything from Captain America lifting Mjolnir to "Avengers Assemble!" went viral back in 2019.

In an interview with Empire (via The Direct), Steve Rogers actor Chris Evans revealed why he had an emotional reaction at the premiere to seeing the audience response to that iconic Mjolnir scene.

In that scene, Iron Man and Thor are on the ropes in their battle with Thanos. Just as it begins to look like the God of Thunder will meet his maker at the hands of the Mad Titan, Cap lifts the magic hammer and uses it to give the villain a well-deserved beating after proving that he's worthy.

"The first time I saw Endgame was at the premiere. Normally I see the films I work on well in advance, and I rarely sit through premieres (too much anxiety). But being the last installment of a ten-year journey, I wanted to experience this final film the same way the audience would," Evans recalls. "When Cap lifts Mjölnir, our theater went absolutely berserk."

"Even though I knew the moment was coming, I still got emotional. In the following weeks, friends and family would send me clips from theaters around the world losing their collective shit at this moment," he continued. "Seeing those reactions, and knowing that I was lucky enough to be a part of those memories for those people, made me feel a sense of pride and gratitude that I'll never be able to properly express. In those moments I'm not an actor, or even an adult; I'm a little kid again completely captivated by the power and magic that movies can wield. I'm getting choked up."

It was a special moment, and one likely to go down in the history books as one of the most awe-inspiring scenes ever put on film. That Evans had this reaction is honestly no great surprise.
