AVENGERS: ENDGAME Star Dave Bautista Disappointed Drax Wasn't The One To Kill Thanos

Reflecting on his role as Drax in Avengers: Endgame, star Dave Bautista admits that he was disappointed Drax wasn't the one to deliver the killing blow to the Mad Titan who killed the hero's family...

Guardians of the Galaxy established that Drax's family was wiped out by Thanos, and by the time the movie ended, the hero made it clear that while Ronan had been dealt with, he wanted to get his hands on the Mad Titan himself. That... never happened.

Thanos easily dealt with Drax in Avengers: Infinity War, and we didn't really see The Destroyer get any measure of revenge in Avengers: Endgame

That disappointed a lot of fans, and it turns out that Dave Bautista wasn't too happy, either!

While it was Iron Man who ultimately used the Infinity Gauntlet to wipe out Thanos and his army, the actor feels that Drax should have been the one to deliver that killing blow to the formidable villain.

"Yeah, I think everybody was [disappointed]," Bautista told JoBlo in a recent interview. "I said in interviews somewhere where that I wish Drax would’ve killed Thanos and I got all these people saying, ‘That doesn’t even make sense! How could you say that? Drax doesn’t deserve to get to kill Thanos!’ And I said it because there’s not a character in the Marvel Universe that doesn’t want to kill Thanos. Of course Drax wanted to kill Thanos. Everybody wanted to kill Thanos."

"So yeah, a little disappointed, cause I kinda take that whole storyline very personal," he continued. "But, I think every character wanted to get their hands on Thanos. I have to say on the record that I love Josh Brolin [Thanos] to death. He’s actually one of my favorite people and by far one of my favorite actors. I love him. He’s such a brilliant actor. He’s overlooked way too much."

Had Thanos not become the MCU's big bad, then it might have made sense for Drax to have taken him out. As it stands, though, it's hard to fault Marvel Studios for going with Tony Stark.

The Mad Titan's death is bound to have taken a toll on the Guardian and his quest for revenge, and that's likely something James Gunn plans to delve into in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3.
