I'm sure we'll get a scene with Drax reconciling his post-Thanos purpose with his family's death. (This is where I think Gunn's hand will be immensely important in the scripting.) Drax was part of the army that killed Thanos (and his Thanos got beheaded in a shack anyway).

They were never going to give the final blow to Drax, so it would have been at most a short stabbing match and Thanos threw Drax aside (similar to Wanda). I mean... a lot of people had beef with Grimace. Short of Jon Snowing him, some people were going to be left out.

While I’m happy that Tony was the main guy to defeat Thanos, I kind of wish Drax had a moment with him during the fight.

Just like how Scarlet Witch had a brief fight with him. It’s actually a little disappointing that the two never even spoke to each other (I think Drax yells out, “THANOOOOS” in IW but that’s it)

Fair enough.

I would have liked to seen Walter Matthau make an appearance, but we don't always get what we want.

The bonus features on the blu ray should include an alternate ending for each individual hero killing Thanos, and one where Thanos wins again.

Still need to go back and rewatch Endgame. Can't shake the feeling it should've been split into two movies so Infinity War would've been the start of an entire Infinity trilogy.

@AC1 - In runtime terms 5hrs and 40mins could be split into 3 movies. I actually respect them for not doing that, especially when there has been a trend in the past for extending material to breaking point for money (Hunger Games and the penultimate Harry Potter movie (imo)).

AC1 - 7/16/2019, 6:07 AM
@Catmanlives - true, I definitely respect that they didn't unnecessarily split it with the intention of making more money.

However, I think the difference with the examples you mentioned is that Hunger Games and Harry Potter were pretty much direct adaptations of pre-existing literature so dragging them out did feel a bit forced (the worst example has to be The Hobbit trilogy).

On the other hand, while Infinity War and Endgame, definitely adapt characters and borrow narrative bits and pieces from the comics, they're mostly original narratives, meaning Feige, Markus, McFeely, and the Russo Bros more or less had complete free reign over what they could've done with those movies narratively and structurally, so long as the end result respected what came before.

So for someone like me, who loves Infinity War but thinks Endgame was a bit overstuffed and had a few pacing and structuring issues, I feel like reworking it to either be more lean and concise, or reworking it into two more parts and letting it breathe a bit more (while expanding aspects that may have felt a bit rushed or left out), might have helped.

And if rumours of Moondragon being introduced in Vol 3 turn out to be true, it'll give Drax an arc where he learns to let go of his need for revenge, process his grief for his wife but also give him hope he can reunite with his daughter and move on. It'll be a very different but very fitting way to close off his arc, if we're also to believe that Vol 3 will be a sendoff for some/all of the original Guardians.

Similarly I feel like Rocket will get that opportunity if we're exploring his creation and possibly meeting Lyla, and something like that might happen to Quill if his search for Gamora doesn't go as expected.

MCU Drax has to be the most literally different character compared to his canon comic counterpart. Sometimes I think we are too lenient with the MCU and some of the liberties it takes because I sure would have liked to see him getting a piece of him in tribute to the lore. So I get from where he is coming from.

Dave has a point. Drax was never going to kill Thanos, of course, but he did deserve to get at least a measure of on screen revenge. They could have at least let him punch Thanos in the dick during the battle or something. It's only fair.

Plot wise, it just wouldn't make sense, Drax probably wouldn't last a minute against Thanos.
Skrull

@GoldGuy - He wouldn't have to last a minute. The battle was so chaotic that a lot of heroes had brief runs at Thanos before the scrum moved on. Drax could have quickly popped in, punched the Mad Titan in the nards, then gave way while someone else blasted the bastard. Easy peasy.

@Skrull - I don't know if that would count as "Getting his revenge" though.

He has a fair point for Drax, but I'm just thoroughly disappointed we didn't get some kind of Hulk vs Thanos rematch ... man, other than the big 3, Hulk should've been next in line as far as priority of who should fight and have a good showing against Thanos. I did appreciate Scarlett Witch tapping that ass for a little bit though.

It would've been nice for Drax to at least get a punch in during the final battle.

Considering this is one of my all-time favorite comic covers, yes I totally agree with Dave:
He should've given a quick stab in the neck. Always anticipated he would get a brief moment.
