"It's hard not to wonder what changed behind the scenes to result in these reshoots"

We already know the answer thanks to the Russos. From test screenings, it became evident that they needed to really make it clear what the rules of time travel were in the movie, to make it crystal clear that this was different from Back to the Future. Therefore, its logically intuitive to infer that the Russos and M&M tweaked the Ancient One's conversation with Banner to aid in fleshing out this concept.

@HeavyMetal4Life - I loved how she mentioned if they remove the Time Stone out of 2012 they allow the Dark Dimension to take over Earth. This kind of gave us as fans the idea that despite Dormammu being kept at bay. He is just as dangerous if not more than Thanos.

@SonOfAGif - All the stones including the Time Stone are missing from 2023, destroyed by Thanos. I wonder what will happen with that Dark Dimension now.

@pucrepeap - already been confirmed they weren’t / can’t be destroyed. Thanos shrunk them down to an atomic level basically impossible to find them

@pucrepeap - Possibly the plot of Doctor Strange 2?

@HeavyMetal4Life -
"they needed to really make it clear what the rules of time travel were in the movie, to make it crystal clear"

This is true - but they failed to do so and contradicted themselves several times. They also intentionally left massive plot holes in the hopes people care enough about fixing the plot holes that they will watch the spin-off TV shows or that they'll pester the directors into explaining it away.

Worst sin a movie can do is not following the rules it establishes - Endgame sinned a lot.

Just posted this as my Cap on the bench theory in an earlier thread:

"I posit a third option for Cap showing up on the bench.

It isn't that universes Captain America! Just as this timelines events unfolded with them traveling to an alternate timeline to temporarily steal the Infinity Stones then returning them to effectively lock the timelines from differing from the main path leading to Infinity War and End Game, so did these events unfold across an infinite number of similar timelines that only differ in minor ways.

I think that both the writers and directors are correct. What Ancient One is explaining isn't that there is only one timeline as long as the Stones are in place, but that the timelines all follow a basic path in unison, only differing in minor ways. When she shows the golden line signifying the timeline it isn't one line, but a flow of paths flowing down a stream, none branching too far out. Once a reality loses a Stone events play out unexpectedly and it leads to corrupted time lines.

So that means when they visited an alternate reality to steal the stones then have Cap return them and retire there, that this caused a domino effect where across the multiverse, because of the stones being intact correcting the timelines, that Captain Americas from across the multiverse, after their own personal End Games, also retired to alternate realities with alternate Peggy's.

This means that the Cap we see on the bench isnt actually the same Cap we saw leave, but a Cap from an alternate universe End Game who stole the stones from the main MCU timeline and returned them just as ours stole them from another universe!

This explains why he was already on the bench and why he has a shield and it isnt broken. In his End Game it never broke and he brought it back in time with him in that alternate universe.

See? It's simple."

OT
Rotten Tomatoes is adding verified ratings from users confirmed to have bought tickets.
Idk why it took them so long, but they are doing it.

@WakandanQueen - How will that work though? Is it connected to certain online ticket shops? How do I rate stuff with my German paper tickets?

@Kyos - They are not replacing the user rating/score. They are just adding verified ratings for those who want to know what the ppl who paid to see the film thought. They are planning to make all ratings verified in the future, even for films viewed past their release. That'll be interesting. You can still rate films, but your rating won't count as verified.

Would be cool to see her in Doctor Strange 2.

@MCUKnight11 - I'm pretty sure Derrickson has said that she will be back in DS2. Everything we know about the film so far:

Working title: ?
Director: Scott Derrickson
Writer: Derrickson, C. Robert Cargill (rumored)
Cast: Cumberbatch, Wong, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Rachel McAdams (rumored)

It's rumored to begin filming in Spring 2020 (which puts it on track for a Summer or Fall 2021 release date. So far Marvel has secured 3 release dates in 2021:

February 12, 2021 (*maybe* Black Panther 2)
May 7, 2021 (probably Spider-Man 3)
November 5, 2021 (Doctor Strange 2?)

Rumored villain for DS2 (other than Mordo): Nightmare

That scene was probably one of my favorite scenes from Endgame. Also, I've really enjoyed their characterization of the Ancient One in the MCU, so I hope we get to see more.

Like I always say, Doctor Strange is one of the MCU's most underrated films, and Swinton is a big part of that.

Going to the past creates alternate timelines no matter what. How different these timelines are from the prime depends on what you do there — butterfly effect and all that. Removing a Stone from a timeline threatens the stability of that reality, and can be catastrophic. So, I think that it was more important that there be an uninterrupted flow of time where all 6 stones existed in each reality. So, all Cap had to do was return each Stone to the moment it left each reality. Whether he returned each one to the precise location was up to his discretion I guess.
