So all those baseless rumors about her going to Vormir were fake? And it was just a costume test like everyone suspected?

@WakandanQueen - But not Eternals. Let Chloe Zhao go wild with that
DeadClunge
DeadClunge - 6/25/2019, 3:08 AM
@WakandanQueen - even though I know you're joking they do seem to direct these characters far better than the directors of their solo movies.

And.....as Captain Marvel was trash (IMO) and the Russos aren't directing any other marvel movie ATM ID love for them to do captain marvel 2 😠😡😠
TheUnworthyThor
TheUnworthyThor - 6/25/2019, 4:28 AM
@PhoenixClunge - Was it? Or do Avengers movies just basically give us a cliffs notes best of compilation of characters? Everything you love about a character squeezed into five minutes of screen time? With none of the heavy lifting.
DeadClunge
DeadClunge - 6/25/2019, 6:11 AM
@TheUnworthyThor - - good question but let's take Thor for example...in infinity war I connected with him more because they actually showed his grief for everything he lost and how he puts it to the back of his mind despite bearing the weight of the universe on his shoulders because he has to be the hero.

Now I know people love Ragnarok but I felt he just joked his way through that movie except for that 1 part he doubted himself...Thor for me was the at his best in Infity war than he was in the 5 movies that came before it (my opinion of course)

Also spider-man was great in Civil war and seemed like a klutz in homecoming.

DeadClunge - 6/25/2019, 6:12 AM
@TyrantBossMedia - I agree he did seem more badass in civil war! Spiderman too yet in homecoming he became a klutz and made nearly every situation worse lol
TheUnworthyThor
TheUnworthyThor - 6/25/2019, 6:35 AM
@PhoenixClunge - It just seems you’re proving my point. Thor has less than fifteen minutes of screen time in Infinity War. He has essentially no arc. He’s great but he’s either joking, being a badass or grieving for all the brief minutes we see him on screen. They don’t have to worry about a long character journey with ups and downs, with rising action and falling action like you see in a solo movie. They just get to move on to the next character.

Not that I don’t trust the Russos to be able to make a great solo movie. Obviously they can. I’d love to see it. But they are tasked with doing a different thing in Avengers movies. But Thor, Spider-Man, Doctor Strange, Black Panther, Captain Marvel they are all the same characters. They all have well reviewed solo movies. The biggest different is in Avengers movies when they have less than ten minutes of time on screen they are just pure distilled kickass. But you can’t do that if they are going to be onscreen for two hours.

@PhoenixClunge - Boy am I tired of hearing this "X character was better in Y Russo brothers movie!" crap, especially when there's no damn basis and the Russos mostly use the character in question as a plot device with barely any character or a very paper thin one.

Everything great about Thor in Infinity War that people praise (mostly his powers) was either done first or set up in Ragnarok. I'd argue Infinity War even regressed his development slightly.

And everything great about Carol in Endgame was done first in Captain Marvel. She's literally the same damn character, but in a better movie. Brie's performance is the exact same. In fact, it's even better informed and more ranged in Captain Marvel, because Carol has more to actually do rather than pop in at just the right time.

This thing is just the popular thing to say now (and I get it, the Russos ARE great directors, especially actor and character directors) but it's hardly even true when you think about it.

The only character I'd agree with is Gamora, because that's the first time we actually saw the weight of being the favourite daughter of Thanos dawn on her and it's played damn well by Zoe Saldana.

But yes, please go ahead and tell me how much better the Hulk and Vision were under the Russos.

@PhoenixClunge - I get your sentiment, but I think those boys need a break. They've been working hard since they were hired for Winter Soldier.
DeadClunge
DeadClunge - 6/25/2019, 10:45 AM
@DnA - if you're tired of hearing it then skip past my post... simples 🤷🏿‍♂️ vision war far better in age of Ultron and I preferred incredible hulk Hulk to current MCU Hulk. We all have different opinions and I preferred Captain Marvel in Endgame, Brie's acting felt less flat.
DeadClunge
DeadClunge - 6/25/2019, 10:55 AM
@TheUnworthyThor - whilst what you're saying is true it was the emotional scene in infinity war that got me and not the action. Maybe because there is more at stake in the avengers movies but both Thor(maybe except for his first film) and Captain marvel seemed far better acting wise under the Russos
DeadClunge
DeadClunge - 6/25/2019, 10:56 AM
@Mr2099 - that's very true
dracula
dracula - 6/25/2019, 11:02 AM
@PhoenixClunge - They made Captain America even better, might be time to give them another Captain
DeadClunge
DeadClunge - 6/25/2019, 11:07 AM
@dracula - that's exactly how I feel and the whole superman vibe she gave off in Endgame just made her more likable for me. I didn't hate her in Captain Marvel but Brie felt a bit bland at times.

I will never get the obsessive hate that she gets from fans, since Scott Pilgrim she's seemed like an extremely personable and talented actress

I personally have loved following her career and can't wait to see what other projects she works on (Unicorn Store or whatever was quite entertaining)

Wish they just kept that 2018 long hair. I get the 2023 hair, but it just looked kinda weird to me

@MalseMarcel - I'm going to need a few dozen different haircuts for her character. Like Wasp's costumes in the 70's, just every scene Carol shows up with a new haircut.

I know there's no real suspense about "whether there will be a sequel", but I'm jonesing for that official announcement. And if I can make a suggestion about it, maybe Feige and Larson should be suspended on wires in Hall H, showering glitter confetti when they do it, as part of an irresponsibly unsafe display that puts Spider-Man: Turn off the Dark to shame.
