12 Amazing Thanos Moments Which Need To Happen In AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR And AVENGERS 4

Thanos is about to make the Marvel Cinematic Universe his b****, so we're taking a look at some of the Mad Titan's greatest comic book moments and why exactly we want to see them happen on the big screen.

Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers 4 look set to revolve around Earth's Mightiest Heroes and the Guardians of the Galaxy teaming up to do battle with Thanos as he gathers the Infinity Stones and unleashes the full power of the Infinity Gauntlet. Mark Ruffalo recently revealed that the movie doesn't follow the comic books all that closely but that doesn't mean certain things won't be adapted.

Over the years, the Mad Titan has been part of a lot of huge comic book storylines and some incredible, memorable moments as a result. Now, we're taking a look at twelve awesome Thanos scenes from the comic books which deserve to be brought to the big screen over the next two years.

Not all of these will make it into Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers 4 but there's a very strong chance that at least a few of them will, so we make a case for why they deserve to be brought to the big screen and how Marvel could go about incorporating them into either movie. So, to check out the full list, all you need to do is click on the buttons below and then share your thoughts in the usual place.

"Come And Get Me!"

This moment comes from the cover of Infinity Gauntlet #4 and features Thanos calling out the Earth's Universe's Mightiest Heroes once he's fully in control of the Infinity Gauntlet. An argument could be made that this issue marked a major turning point for the Mad Titan because he went from being a notable villain to a badass supervillain capable of taking down The Avengers with great ease.

Common sense says that Avengers: Infinity War will conclude with Thanos being in possession of every Infinity Stone and this being the final line of the movie moving into Avengers 4 would serve as a great cliffhanger and a great way to set the stage for the heroes to regroup and make one final stand.

Drax's Revenge

The Marvel Cinematic Universe's version of Drax is keen to get revenge on Thanos for the murder of his family and if someone does wind up delivering a killing blow to the villain, surely it should be this member of the Guardians of the Galaxy! In Annihilation #4, Drax takes it upon himself to stop the Mad Titan once and for all by punching a hole straight through his chest while he wasn't looking.

It was a violent and brutal end for the Mad Titan but is this too violent for Disney produced movies like Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers 4? Bear in mind that Agent Coulson was stabbed through the heart by Loki so this could be done and if handled properly, it would make for a truly shocking moment.

SNAP

We know that the big screen version of Thanos wants to wipe out half of all known life in the universe in order to "save" it but the comic book version of the character wanted to take things even further. In a bid to prove his devotion to Death, though, he offers to wipe out half of Earth's population and does so with a simple click of his fingers. Simply put, this needs to happen on the big screen.

Regardless of whether it's a moment used the same way as in the comic books or something completely different, seeing the Mad Titan unleash his devastating new powers once he has his hands on the Infinity Stones would be downright awesome and a scene you have to believe will be adapted.

War Machine's Demise

The most recent Thanos moment listed here, the Mad Titan brutally murdered War Machine and left She-Hulk comatose during the build-up to Civil War II. There's not really a whole lot more that Rhodey can do in the Marvel Cinematic Universe at this stage, so having Thanos arrive in Wakanda and instantly kill the hero makes it clear that pretty much no one is safe and it motivates Iron Man too.

The sight of War Machine's armour sparking and exploding as Thanos drives his fist into War Machine's chest would make for an extremely memorable piece of imagery and if Drax does end up punching the villain's heart out, it would be a nice way to ensure he ultimately gets his just desserts.

The Mad Titan's Redemption

We haven't seen all that much of Thanos in the Marvel Cinematic Universe but he's clearly evil to the core, right? Well, recent interviews point to him having a tragic background and actually trying to save the universe when he collects the Infinity Stones and decides to wipe out billions of lifeforms.

As a result, it is possible that he could find some redemption and there's one comic book moment in particular which would facilitate that. At the end of Infinity Gauntlet, Thanos has fled and taken refuge on a deserted planet where's he become a farmer who now only wants a peaceful life and has given up his quest to destroy the universe. Of course, that didn't actually end up lasting all that long...

Thanos Is Turned Into Stone

Thanos was put on the shelf by Marvel for well over a decade when the spirit of Adam Warlock turned the villain to stone. This happened just moments before he was finally going to defeat The Avengers for good and it was a pretty interesting way to bring the villain down at the time while also leaving the door open for him to show his ugly face again somewhere down the line (in 1990 to be exact).

This wouldn't be a bad way to wrap up his story arc in Avengers 4 once he's defeated by the team and it handles the Mad Titan's "demise" in a way which means he could make some sort of grand return down the line even if fans of the Marvel Cinematic Universe also have to wait a decade!

Death Has The Last Laugh

It doesn't sound like Death will play a role in Avengers: Infinity War or Avengers 4 but seeing her in some way, shape, or form here would make a lot of comic book fans very happy indeed. After using a Cosmic Cube to wreak havoc on Earth, the Mad Titan is defeated by Captain Mar-Vell and is seemingly destroyed alongside the powerful artefact. Death's reaction? She has a good laugh about it!

This moment essentially conveyed the fact that she cannot be courted and finds Thanos' constant advances to be laughable and something similar playing out in either one of these movies would be fun to see. Unfortunately, I'm not sure how this could be included in either one of these releases.

Thanos Melts Wolverine

Unfortunately, the Disney/Fox deal hasn't gone through in time for Wolverine to pop his claws in Avengers 4 but this amazing Thanos moment definitely needs to be brought to the big screen in some form. Confronted by the almost indestructible mutant, the Mad Titan laughs off the X-Man's threats and turns his Adamantium skeleton to mush with a flick of his hand, leaving Wolverine immobile.

There are ways this could be brought to the big screen, though, including Thanos stopping Iron Man in his tracks, him shattering Captain America's shield (another moment we definitely need to see in live-action), or the Mad Titan melting Black Panther's claws as he attempts to stop the villain.

The Cosmic Pantheon

When it becomes clear that Thanos can't be stopped by The Avengers and various other cosmic heroes, the combined might of the universe's most powerful cosmic entities come together to stop the Mad Titan once and for all. Made up of characters like Galactus, the Stranger, the Living Tribunal, the Titan Kronos, Epoch, the entities Love and Hate, two Celestials, Master Order and Lord Chaos, Eternity, and Uatu the Watcher, an epic battle ensued but it's hard to imagine them all ending up on the big screen.

While it's possible that one or two of these powerful entities could show up in some form, an entire Cosmic Pantheon seems highly unlikely and it would likely prove too confusing for regular moviegoers.

Thanos Kills His Mom

Josh Brolin has alluded to Thanos' past being explored in Avengers: Infinity War and it's going to be fascinating seeing if it's anywhere near as messed up as his comic book counterpart. We know that the Marvel Cinematic Universe's version of the Mad Titan will be thought of as deformed by his fellow Titans but does that mean he'll be shunned and ultimately exiled by his father because of that?

Quite possible but whether or not the Russo Brothers are going to bring one of the most disturbing aspects of his origin story to the big screen isn't clear. That saw Thanos brutally dissect and kill his mother, actions which proved that the villain has clearly been a psychopath from a young age.

The Death Of Adam Warlock

The prevailing fan theory was that Adam Warlock would be introduced in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 and while that was accurate in the respect that his arrival was teased right at the end of the sequel, it's clear now that we won't see him debut in the Marvel Cinematic Universe until Vol. 3. That means this moment is unlikely to grace the big screen but another hero could easily sub in for him.

In Avengers Annual #7, Thanos teams with Warlock to help him defeat Magus but we quickly learn that he's only after the Soul Stone which is in the hero's possession and as soon as he gets his hands on that, the villain takes great delight in bringing Adam to his knees and effortlessly ending his life.

The Thanos Copter

You know what, this is probably one moment which doesn't need to be featured in Avengers: Infinity War or Avengers 4. Then again, if Marvel can find a way to pay homage to it, more power to them!
