AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR: Close-Up Look At Thor's Stormbreaker Weapon Reveals A Surprising Twist

New promo art and a toy replica of Thor's Avengers: Infinity War weapon and it turns out that there's a lot more to the Stormbreaker than we initially realised. Hit the jump for the spoilery details.

We've known for a while now that Thor is getting a new weapon in Avengers: Infinity War but we still haven't had more than a blurry look at it. Well, that's finally changed and the Stormbreaker looks seriously awesome! If that name sounds familiar, it's because Beta Ray Bill's hammer had that same name and this version is once again a cross between a hammer and axe just like in the comic books.

What's really interesting about this, though, is that it's now clear those rumours about the handle being made from Groot wood were accurate. The sentient tree will, of course, join Thor alongside Rocket Raccoon when the God of Thunder travels to Nidavellir to track down a new weapon.

It's also worth noting that Thor has both eyes here. The question is, will he somehow regain his eye in Avengers: Infinity War or is Marvel just ditching the eye patch for promotional material? It's hard to say for sure but we'll obviously find out when the movie is released this coming May. Thoughts?

@ChangAlang - I like the head but I'm not sure how I feel about the Groot handle. It wouldn't be strong enough to handle smashing Thanos in the skull! Still, if the put out a quality Marvel legends version (That's, hopefully, much better than what they did with Mjolnir) I will buy it in a second!
