AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR Co-Director Explains How Every Previous Marvel Movie Sets Up This Epic Adventure

Avengers: Infinity War co-director Joe Russo sheds some light on how each of the previous movies set in the Marvel Cinematic Universe ultimately play a role in setting up the battle against Thanos...

Looking back over the past decade or so of Marvel Studios movies, it's easy to see which ones have set up the events of Avengers: Infinity War. It started with Thanos' introduction in The Avengers and continued into any release which made mention of the Infinity Stones. Thor: Ragnarok is the next release to lay the groundwork for Earth's Mightiest Heroes' battle against Thanos but Joe Russo has revealed in a new interview that every Marvel movie actually sets up the events of this adventure.

How? Well, it all boils down to the fact that Avengers: Infinity War will feature pretty much every single character who has ever appeared in the MCU as they come together to confront the Mad Titan.

"Everything is setting up Infinity War. Every narrative that you have seen in any of the Marvel movies leading up to this point comes to bear in some way because all of the characters and all of the franchises are coming together, bringing their themes and their tone and the things that motivate the characters are driving them through this story. It has been the hardest part of the job for us, is melding all of that together, But thankfully, we got Markus and McFeely working with us. They are incredible collaborators. They wrote WInter Soldier for us, and Civil War. Now they’re writing both Avengers movies. I feel like we’ve got a great Vulcan mind meld between the two of them, and me and my brother."

It sounds like everyone involved with Avengers: Infinity War knows exactly what they need to do in order to make this movie succeed and it's definitely going to be interesting seeing how all these characters and their very different worlds come together in this highly anticipated 2018 release.

Joss Whedon made it work back in 2012 and this movie's creative team have already proved themselves (Captain America: Civil War was pretty much an Avengers movie after all). What do you guys think? As always, be sure to share your thoughts in the comments section down below.
