AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR Hi-Res Concept Art Features Alternate Takes On Thanos' Villainous Black Order
In this latest round of Avengers: Infinity War concept art, we get to see some alternate takes on the Mad Titan's Black Order: Ebony Maw, Proxima Midnight, Cull Obsidian, and Corvus Glaive. Take a look...
Avengers: Infinity War introduced Thanos' other children (a.k.a. the Black Order) and while many fans were disappointed to see them killed off in such short order, they certainly made an impact as Ebony Maw, Proxima Midnight, Cull Obsidian, and Corvus Glaive took the fight to Earth's Mightiest Heroes at various points throughout the movie.
In this latest round of hi-res concept art from the Marvel Studios movie, we get to see alternate takes on all of them and that includes different versions of the weapons wielded by Cull Obsidian after he lost his arm during a battle with Doctor Strange.
This all looks very cool and if you're a fan of these characters, then you'll find lots to talk about here because it turns out that they could have all ended up with very different appearances on the big screen. So, to check out this hi-res Avengers: Infinity War artwork, all you guys have to do is click on the "View List" button down below.
Cull Obsidian
This is an incredible piece of artwork and with speculation running rampant that Captain Marvel may have crossed paths with Cull, it's hard not to wonder about the significance of that jet.
Cull lost his arm after crossing paths with Doctor Strange and these very cool pieces of artwork show a variety of weapons in place of that. Alas, it didn't do him much good against Hulkbuster!
A gorgeous piece of concept art, it's a great shame we didn't get to spend more time with the Black Order away from The Avengers but the superhero ensemble was busy enough as it was.
These armour designs are all really cool and it's interesting to see just how much of a difference these make to his overall appearance which, as it was, ended up being pretty memorable.
As great as it was to see the Black Order brought to the big screen, it's a shame that we didn't get to see more of them beforehand; this version of Cull could have competed in Thor: Ragnarok!
Ebony Maw
Ebony Maw probably had the most screentime in Avengers: Infinity War out of all the Black Order and while I'm not sure where he's supposed to be here, it really gets across how hateful he is!
These alternate costume designs aren't that different from what ended up on screen but I do think it's fair to say that what Marvel ended up choosing was the best one they came up with.
This is a cool design and all but the Maw looks way too...cute?! In fact, I think an argument could be made that he looks like a creature who would fit better in a Star Wars movie.
Proxima Midnight
Some fans complained about the VFX used to bring Proxima Midnight brought to life and she certainly didn't look as flawless as Thanos! Despite that, the design here is undeniably cool.
I'm not sure who Proxima is supposed to be fighting here but this artwork is a great way of showing how formidable she is as the villain has clearly just sliced the heads off these poor suckers!
According to Marvel's concept artists, they had to spend a lot of time making sure Proxima's arm didn't look too much like Bucky or Nebula and I think it's fair to say that they succeeded.
Corvus Glaive
We all thought that Peter Dinklage was going to voice Corvus Glaive in the movie but it's a good job he didn't as the popular villain ended up with a relatively small amount of screentime.
Some rather Goblin-ish takes on the character, these would have worked but you can understand why Marvel chose to move away from that idea as it may not have worked for the villain.
Pretty scary, eh? Given how important he was in the Infinity comic book story, it's a shame that Glaive didn't receive a more significant amount of screentime in the Marvel movie.
