There were rumors doing the rounds a few months back that Avengers: Infinity War would be a whopping 3 hours long, but we recently discovered that this was inaccurate and the film would only clock in at 156 minutes.

However, with less than 2 weeks to go until the Russo brothers' highly-anticipated Marvel adventure goes on worldwide release, an updated listing has confirmed that the final theatrical cut will actually be a tad shorter again.

According to an Irish cinema chain (via Trailer Track's Anton Volkov), Infinity War will run for 149 minutes and 9 seconds - just shy of 2 and a half hours. This still makes it Marvel Studios' longest film, however, just topping Captain America: Civil War's 147 minutes.

Not a huge diffrence, but as we know, Marvel has become adept at cramming a lot of story into a few minutes.

Avengers: Infinity War will be with us on April 27.

My only real concern with IW is the runtime and balancing the story and characters.

Not only do we have all the heros, but we need to introduce Thanos and the black order.

I think the Black Order is the most likley to get shortchanged (which would be dispointing): I can see all besides Ebony Maw (who I think will be the only personality in the group) being only used for action set pieces.

I feel IW would have been the perfect film to have a three hour runtime.

I'm hoping it doesn't feel too short. I think for this story 2.5 hrs would be ideal.

@A2ron - Honestly, I don't think this is true anyway, it's not the most reliable source for this and I read a different article stating this runtime is a censored version for indonesia only, and not North America

@Ben4 - I hope that's true then, more Avengers the better.

Not surprised at all by this. Theatres tend to get weary of films lasting longer than two and a half hours. With about twenty minutes or so of previews, that's nearly THREE hours that ONE picture monopolizes the auditorium. Not really cost effective for them, and not for the studio, who wants to be able to show the flick as many times as possible in a single day.

good. any longer, and you run the risk of boring people.

I know this is the [frick]ing SHIT to many of us (myself included). but many people see this as the next giant marvel cluster[frick] that will be a probably just be an enjoyable night. you don't want those people getting bored. we want this to be enjoyable for everyone.
