Sounds Like AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR Won't Have A Very Romantic Reunion For HULK And BLACK WIDOW
According to a new Scarlett Johnasson interview, Bromanoff or Brutasha might be over after Avengers: Infinity War. Were you a fan of the Hulk and Black Widow pairing in Avengers: Age of Ultron?
After 2012's Avengers, MCU fans were convinced that Hawkeye and Black Widow were in a relationship. However, 2015's release of Avengers: Age of Ultron revealed that Hawkeye was secretly married with kids and that Bruce Banner and Natasha Romanoff were working through some underlying romantic tension (because nothing sparks romance like fleeing from your significant other's giant, green rage monster).
At one point in Captain America: Civil War, Tony Stark turns to Black Widow and asks if she's had any contact with Banner as they prepared for the showdown with Cap's team at the airport but it seems it's been a year since she last saw him. Tack on the time between Age of Ultron and Infinity War and it will have been three years since Bruce flew off in the Quinjet and disappeared.
Of course, thanks to Thor: Ragnarok, we now know, Hulk has been off-world on Sakaar, fighting in a gladiator arena. That's certainly a good excuse but will Scarlett have moved on in the interim?
The relationship was always polarizing among the Marvel fandom,so their demise in the Russo's Avengers: Infinity War might actually be met with cheers. Appearing on Bravo TV's Inside the Actor's Studio, Scarlett Johansson revealed that Bruce and Natasha's relationship in Infinity War mirrors her own real-life situation.
"I just finished Avengers: Infinity War. The first one. My character has this ongoing relationship with Mark Ruffalo’s character. I had such devastation that day. I don’t know why. I was so devastated. It was something about this character that Mark plays, and this is something that should feel so solid and suddenly doesn’t or there’s… And it reminded me of so much of the things going on in my own life at the time…"
It was previously reported in January, that Scarlett and her husband, art dealer husband Romain Dauriac have been separated since last summer. A few months later in March, Johansson filed for divorce and the custody battle became tense over who would have primary custody of the couple's daughter. If the cinematic relationship between Bruce and Natasha is mirroring Johansson's real life situation, that's definitely not a good sign...
