One of the biggest debates heading into Avengers: Infinity War revolves around the location of the Soul Stone. The sixth and final Infinity Stone that has yet to even make a physical appearance in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

An endless amount of theories have been formulated about the gem's whereabouts. Arguably, the three most popular theories are that it's hidden within Black Panther's nation of Wakanda, it's bound to the former Asgradian gatekeeper Heimdall, or it have something to do with the Sovereign's perfect being: Adam Warlock.

A critical character in the original Infinity Gauntlet comics whose introduction was teased in a Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 post credits scene; This theory was backed by the fact that Warlock's story in the Infinity Gauntlet comic basically revolved around the Soul Stone. Given this evidence, and the fact that Warlock played such a crucial role in the war against Thanos, fans have believed that he would be appearing in the upcoming Avengers sequel.

Guardians of the Galaxy director James Gunn attempted to put to rest the assumption that Adam will be appearing in Infinity War, but fans don't seem to be taking the hint. A fan on Twitter recently surmised that the Soul Stone will appear alongside Warlock; Gunn took to Twitter to once more to put the Adam theories to rest and disprove the common Soul Stone theory.

Gunn has, of course, already seen the movie, so he's more than 99% sure of what happens in Infinity War. He's also the guy who introduced Adam to the MCU in the first place. He knows what he's talking about. But for those still blindly hopeful and clinging onto that 1% you could suppose Gunn's simply lying to cover-up a reveal.

So, now that we know the stone won't be arriving with Adam; where do you think it'll be? Perhaps within Wakanda or Heimdall? Where, when, how and why would you like Adam Warlock to appear in the MCU?

was this a theory?

well, it would make sense, and it would be cool, and it would tie perfectly to the comics.

@ODanil - I actually remember Gunn saying the coffin had nothing to do with Adam Warlock in the first place, so now I'm confused. If he had debunked that, was this theory really a "major" one still?

We probably won’t even see the Soul Stone in Infinity War. Remember, this movie was originally a two part story and I don’t think we’ll see the Soul Stone until Capt Marvel or Avengers: The Skrull War (unofficial title but that’s what I think it’ll be)

@WruceBayne - Not sure why people think it will about the skrulls.

@CopCipher - me personally, I think it’ll be about the Skrulls because the Russo’s said that the 4th Avengers movie title would spoil a big plot point for Infinity War. So I figured it’s probably the Skrulls. They’re a big enough threat to carry across a few movies and keep the fight on earth. I’m probably wrong but there is a chance that I could be right too.

How anyone seriously thinks Adam Warlock would be involved judging on the MCU alone is beyond me. Gunn has said he wouldn't be used until Guardians 3.

@BlackBeltJones - interesting ! it will make a lot sense on why we're following tony , strange and the rest on titan.

@knocturnalzen10 - Yup.

I feel like there's a reason thats a battle ground.

The entire film is a heist and each act seens to be abour defending a location and/or individual that has a stone.

@knocturnalzen10 -
Potential spoilers from the trailers;

"Wakanda"
The Vibranium comet might include the Soul Stone, could be used to explain why Thanos is attacking Wakanda, though that could simply be explained due to the presence of Vision. As such i'd dismiss that as an option personally.

"Titan"
Trailer seemed to imply that Spider-man, Iron Man and Doctor Strange get caught up in the New York spaceship which then is recalled to Titan. We have seen Nebula on Titan, and i think she probably has the Reality Stone explaining why some of the Guardians and the heroes are on Titan.

"Howard's words in IM2"
Personally never saw Howard Stark's words as meaning anything other than his son being the best thing that he ever created, in the sense of Tony being his son. A big theme of Iron Man 2 was legacy, Howard's legacy was Tony and passing on the idea of a new element for Tony to discover - Tony was also deciding his own legacy which is why he started to work on renewable energy in Avengers.

@Scarilian - i also had a theory about the 'new element' tony re-discovered... and that it could be drawing its power from the soul stone similar to how the Ancient One could draw in dark energy.

...maybe the energy SHE is drawing in is actually from the Soul Stone... SO MANY POSSIBILITIES!!!

Duh, not surprising. And it's not in Wakanda either.
