CBM's Sunday Showdown: Which Is The Better Superteam - THE AVENGERS Or JUSTICE LEAGUE?

CBM's Sunday Showdown pits two heroes (or villains) against each other to let you, our loyal readers, decide which of them deserves to be crowned the better comic book character.

Created by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby, Earth's Mightiest Heroes assembled in the Marvel Universe for the first time in the pages of Avengers #1 in 1963. Coming together to fight "the foes no single superhero can withstand," the group would continue adding new members to its roster over the years, including reformed villains, mutants, aliens, and more, making them a diverse, exciting group.

Their villains are every bit as incredible, of course, and when the world needs saving, it's the Avengers people turn to. Whether it's the Kree/Skrull War, the Age of Ultron, or even an Infinity War, this group has been through an awful lot, and represent the best of the best when it comes to this world.

On the big screen, this team has found unparalleled success. Avengers: Endgame looks set to be the highest-grossing movie of all-time for the foreseeable future, and everything in the Marvel Cinematic Universe revolves around this group. They just so happen to have an iconic battle cry too!

Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, the Flash, Green Lantern, Aquaman, and Martian Manhunter first came together as the Justice League of America in The Brave and the Bold #28 all the way back in 1960. From there, the roster would expand massively, often with the best the DC Universe has to offer coming together to protect not just the Earth, but the entire universe.

That's what helps the Justice League stand out from the crowd in many respects, as they're powerful enough to protect the Multiverse from certain doom. They're an impressive, formidable bunch, and when the Justice League gets involved, you know that whatever comes next is going to be a big deal.

Unlike The Avengers, things haven't gone quite as well for the Justice League on the big screen. The 2017 movie was something of a disaster, and it now remains to be seen whether Zack Snyder's Justice League - which is coming to HBO Max next year - can go some way in making up for that.

There's no denying that The Avengers and Justice League are the world's two greatest superhero teams, but we now want you to decide which of them is better! You can do that by casting your vote in the poll below, while we'd love to also hear your thoughts on them in the comments section.

Be sure to check back here next week for the results and another instalment of CBM's Sunday Showdown. If you have any characters you think should be pitted against each other here, let us know!

Last week's results:

Aquaman                       - 59.6%
Namor the Sub-Mariner - 40.4%
