Joss Whedon Explains Why Tom Hiddleston's 'LOKI' Was Cut From AVENGERS: AGE OF ULTRON

Reassuring the God of Mischief was almost in Avengers: Age of Ultron, as previously revealed, director Joss Whedon now explains why we didn't see Loki (Tom Hiddleston) after all. Check it out!

Idris Elba let slip last year that he had filmed an Avengers: Age of Ultron scene with Tom Hiddleston, but while Heimdall does make an appearance in the Marvel sequel, Loki is nowhere to be seen. Evidently, Hiddleston's cameo was left on the cutting room floor, as Joss Whedon now confirms.

“We did shoot something, but it didn’t play,” the Age of Ultron writer-director told MTV News. “The movie has so much. It’s so filled. We didn’t want it to feel overstuffed. I really wanted to have Loki in it, but I understood the decision that there were now too many voices in the chorus.  Whedon added, “At some point the embarrassment of riches is actually embarrassing.”

Perhaps, Tom Hiddleston's cameo will be included in the many deleted scenes to be featured on the Blu-ray and DVD release for Avengers: Age of Ultron. In the meantime, we can still expect the God of Mischief's full-fledged return in Thor: Ragnarok on November 3, 2017. What do you think?

Marvel Studios presents Avengers: Age of Ultron, the epic follow-up to the biggest Super Hero movie of all time. Marvel’s Avengers: Age of Ultron stars Robert Downey Jr., who returns as Iron Man, along with Chris Evans as Captain America, Chris Hemsworth as Thor and Mark Ruffalo as The Hulk. Together with Scarlett Johansson as Black Widow and Jeremy Renner as Hawkeye, and with the additional support of Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury and Cobie Smulders as Agent Maria Hill, the team must reassemble to defeat James Spader as Ultron, a terrifying technological villain hell-bent on human extinction. Along the way, they confront two mysterious and powerful newcomers, Wanda Maximoff, played by Elizabeth Olsen, and Pietro Maximoff, played by Aaron Taylor-Johnson, and meet an old friend in a new form when Paul Bettany becomes Vision. Written and directed by Joss Whedon and produced by Kevin Feige, Marvel’s Avengers: Age of Ultron is based on the ever-popular Marvel comic book series “The Avengers,” published in 1963. Get set for an action-packed thrill ride when The Avengers return in Avengers: Age of Ultron May 1, 2015.
