I think it’s easy to say they are not deserving of movies. But the Disney streaming service is a huge bet by Disney that absolutely for the long term health of the company to work out and they are relying on Scarlet Witch, Loki, Falcon and The Winter Soldier to sell it. That sounds to me like a lot of confidence.

And if they are able to maintain the theatrical experience in a long form format then these might just be in concept amongst the greatest things ever in entertainment.

@TheUnworthyThor - I think they’re more relying on the massive Disney vault to sell it

@ShimmyShimmyYA - You’ve got to come out with original content if you want to win the streaming wars hence why they are spending a 100 million dollars on TV shows.

@TheUnworthyThor - well yeah. But I’m sure disney is banking on nostalgia selling the app then the OC later on. I think we’re saying the same thing I just think nostalgia gets people in , OC keeps them subscribed

@TheUnworthyThor - First, we have to consider all the subscribers the broader Disney content could bring. Second, that influx of money can benefit the MCU for fans in ways that even Wilding can’t dream of. Third, though nothing is official, and the service has yet to launch, I’m way more likely to sign up for Disney Play than the DC service.

I primarily gravitate to Marvel characters, but DC’s cannon has a lot to offer. So far, while I’m curious about Titans, I haven’t signed up yet. Much of that has to do with the platforms they deliver it on, and how I use my consoles.

Xbox One is my main livingroom media hub, content player, and to a lesser extent, PS4. I have an Apple TV that I move between living room and bedroom - mostly based on stuff I want to stream from my iPad. My bedroom TV has Rocky built in. But really, I need it on my Xbox to really sell me.

So, I can’t get their content as easily without console options. Add to that, I’m like warm on Titans, know nothing about Doom Patrol - or even if they are just characters in Titans or they have their own show being developed. Swamp thing interests me, as I loved that character growing up, and saw the two previous movies as a kid.

Anyway, I have a wait-and-see approach to DC’s service, while Disney’s... let’s see what they offer off the bat - both in terms of content, and platform availability - but I’m likely to sign up for that quickly. I have an 8 year old daughter that grew up with the MCU (she’s seen most of the DC movies too, but LOVES the marvel stuff and has seen lol of it) PLUS all the other content outside MCU Disney can offer? If they have console apps out the gate, sign me up!

Well Marvel TV set the standard with the Daredevil series on Netflix. Hopefully we get the special effects with the story telling excellence set by Daredevil, on the MCU studios series on Disney Play.

When I read “campfire” the first thing that came to my mind about a TV show that used that way of storytelling and narrative was the “Are You Afraid of The Dark?” series. Those were stand-alone and kinda limited as well because every week there was a new scary tale and not always they had happy endings.

Anyway, I am curious how these ones will work.

@NinnesMBC - LOVED that show in my mid-teens (while it was airing). Tried to watch it while babysitting around that time with the kids and it was too scary for them. I was bummed. 😂😂😂

Sooo... is every Wilding article going to be a listicle now?

@WeaponXCII - What is there even a list for? Was this tacked onto some previous "article" of his? I've basically stopped reading his stuff after that Avengers 4 Spoiler-in-the-Title from a week or so back.

This is the first time anyone from Marvel has spoken about them, right?

So they're definitely planning them. This is great confirmation.

My dream picks:

Really looking forward to these shows, I expect them to be as great as Daredevil and Agents of SHIELD.

I am unbelievably excited for this new direction. This is something I never conceived as a possibility, 1 because I didn't think a studio would ever go for it. A high-budget comicbook tv show made by the same people who pulled off the last 10 years of MCU movies... with A list actors.

It's like what they were doing with Netflix, but stepped up a level (because now we have already established characters, A list actors, and a higher budget). When you see a cool character like Falcon, who only got maybe 4 lines of dialogue in Infinity War... it only makes sense to use this streaming service as a platform to expand that.

This just makes so much sense it hurts

I wonder what this means for the Netflix marvel shows as a whole. None of them have the Marvel Studios logo or branding. Yet they are suppossed to be part of the MCU. Iron Fist and Luke Cage are cancelled. I don't know if anyone read the reports, but there was an over 50 percent drop of viewership between DD S2 and DD S3. smh. And Daredevil is the most popular series among the Netflix marvel shows. Will DD and Jessica Jones be cancelled too?

Now there will be Marvel shows on Disney play with the main cast of film characters and Feige directly overseeing their production.

Will they have the Marvel Studios branding? I hope that whatever happens they keep Charlie Cox and the gang from Daredevil. That entire cast is incredible. Bring them over to Disney Play.
