The solo Batgirl movie may have been put on the back-burner at Warner Bros., but the character is now expected to make her debut in Birds of Prey, which means director Cathy Yan will likely begin the casting process fairly soon.

Ever since we first found out that the popular DC heroine was set to make her live-action bow, fans have gone back and forth on which actress would be the best possible choice to bring Barbara Gordon to life, and Jane Levy was at the top of a lot of lists.

So, could the Evil Dead star actually be a contender to land the part? That remains to be seen, but the following Tweet definitely suggests that she is interested.


On the heels of this exchange, Instagram user Datrinti put together some artwork that could give us some idea how Jane would looks as Babs, both in and out of costume.

She’s a great actress, and has a great look, but at the risk of sounding politically incorrect, isn’t she a little old for Batgirl? She’ll be in her early thirties by the time a Batgirl movie gets made. Isn’t Batgirl typically a teenager pre-paralysis? With the success of Tom Holland’s Spider-man I figured WB would try and cast someone around that age for Batgirl.

I know her from Suburgatory and the Evil Dead movie from almost 5 years ago. Worth a shot and for all we know she could surprise many like Gal Gadot did.

@WAKANDABATMANFOREVER - That is very true. Nolan aside, their high water marks are probably Donner, Burton, and Singer, and (while there's merit in all of them), they all fall fairly short of the recent standards of big Hollywood genre filmmaking.

I mean, we make fun of the Martha scene (and rightfully so), but imagine Michael Keaton swinging upside down his closet as Jack Nicholson dances to Skrillex while vandalizing the MOMA in 2018.

The way the DCEU has been hashed out, Batman in particular, i don't know how you fit Batgirl, much less the Birds of Prey in without a soft reboot. IDK how they haven't figured it out yet. It's a simple fix, they can eliminate everything screwed up, including Batman's age, and they don't even have to mess with Flashpoint, which trying to do at this stage of the game is just stupid.

@XCI - I knew someone would mention Kate Mara. She is my poster girl for "overrated". She's alight, but undeserving to be so often considered/fancast.

Her Sue Storm was unremarkable. She didn't register as better than or worse than the material. Clearly, she was not the reason that movie stank. I just find her kinda mousy and without any presence.

I love her in the role. Which is exactly why I wouldn't want her to get it. DC is like Westeros in full civil war right now.

But... are we talking about a Batgirl solo, or a Birds of Prey Harley Quinn vehicle? I genuinely can't keep them straight.
