After it was confirmed yesterday that E3 2020 was cancelled due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic,
Kotaku news editor Jason Schreier shared a few interesting details on what the annual video games trade show may have featured this year, including the official reveal of a number of high profile titles.
According to his report, which included input from three separate sources familiar with their plans, Warner Bros. Games was going to host their first ever E3 press conference this year, where they were expected to officially announce a new
Batman game (presumably the
rumored Arkham/Court of Owls game from WB Games Montreal), an open world
Harry Potter game (footage of which had initially
leaked in 2018), and the long-awaited next game from
Arkham developers Rocksteady Studios, details of which still remain under wraps.
With E3 no longer happening this June, everything's been thrown for a loop and what happens next remains uncertain, at best. Schreier guesstimates that since the titles are apparently ready to be revealed, WB Games may ultimately decide to hold its own digital event at or around the same time as E3 would've happened in June, but there's also an equally good possibility they decide to go in an entirely different direction with their announcements.
