BATMAN:The Killing Joke Gets Release Date For Soundtrack; Tracklist Revealed

The soundtrack and tracklist for the animated adaptation of the classic comic, The Killing Joke, has been revealed and features some cool tracks along with a song sang by the Joker himself, Mark Hamill..

When adapting a story like the Killing Joke, you need some tracks to match the theme of the story. Good news is that WaterTower Music and La La Land Records are aware of that and have put together a terrific soundtrack for the adaptation of The Killing Joke. The score was created by Lolita Ritmanis, Kristopher Carter and Michael McCuistion who have worked on other animated DC projects like Justice League, Batman Beyond and (the late) Young Justice.

"Bruce and Sam are deeply sensitive to the effect of music on the scenes" Carter says    and continues "During our meetings, we would discuss what was happening not only  onscreen, but also what was NOT onscreen that the music can support.  Communicating what the characters are thinking and feeling is one of the most  powerful uses of music and film, and it was a joy to collaborate with film makers that  want to find the right tone to help with the story".  While putting music out on digital f orm is the norm these days, the trio of composers decided to work with live musicians  for the album.

"We knew right off the bat we were going to hire live musicians for this score" said  McCustion. "We wanted the level of nuance and expression that only live  performance provides. We were especially excited to be able to reunite with many of  the finest Los Angeles studio musicians who originally played our scores on Batman:  The Animated Series to record the Killing Joke. The legacy that we all shared became    a catalyst for some truly unforgettable recording sessions". For more of what the   creators of the score have to say, head over here.

A cool surprise to fans is that Mark Hamill has recorded a song on the soundtrack called "I Go Looney" singing in full Joker mode. The Killing Joke soundtrack will hit stores on July 22nd, and the film will be released on digital July 26th.  While some may reveal some MAJOR spoilers, if you haven't read the book or if the movie has it's own twists and turns, which according to producers will add a lot of story not before seen in the graphic novel.
