Is This Finally Confirmation Of Talia Al Ghul In TDKR?
It has just become sort of a given that when discussing Marion Cotillard's character in The Dark Knight Rises, Miranda Tate, here on CBM that we are really talking about Talia Al Ghul - daughter of Ra's and new leader of The League Of Shadows. But we have not actually had any confirmation of this aside from Cotillard looking like she is definitely playing some kind of dual role in a few very revealing set images. Well now we might just have confirmation that Talia, while not definitely played by Cotillard, is at least in the movie in some capacity.
We all assume that Marion Cotillard is playing Talia Al Ghul but we still don't know for certain if that character is even in the movie at all. Until now. Probably..
Well, we now might have that confirmation from what absolutely has to be the most unlikely place imaginable: a profile of eight-year-old actress Leilah De Meza in an English local newspaper. Her mother is quoted in the piece as saying her daughter was offered the part of "young Talia al Ghul", and here's why they supposedly turned down the role:
"After careful consideration we turned it down as they were insistent that Leilah had to shave all her hair off. We were prepared to have it cut short but not shaved at such a young age. We were concerned how this could have affected Leilah's confidence and general social welfare."
So if this is true, and we have no reason to suspect it isn't, we know that not only is Talia a part of the story but that a younger version of the character will appear with a bald head. It's likely that she will appear in scenes featuring Josh Pence who has been conformed to appear as a younger version of her father, Ra's.
