Saw the movie and i loved it.

It ain't a masterpiece, but Joaquin's performance on the other hand? Hell yeah.

The script just ain't "tight" as TDK or Logan and the movie is what it is all thanks to the main actor, Joaquin truly elevated the whole thing.

Now that doesn't suddenly mean that the script was dogshit (aside from some dialogue here and there) but it's pretty simple and linear.
Its main focus it's all on Arthur, which is completely fair, but even then...it could've been better.

I'm talking about the character study.
Even before watching the movie i knew that that was going to be a tough nut to crack when you have to introduce the character, his world, his trauma etc...
It's easier to do that with a tv series like Mr.Robot, Legion or Breaking Bad, not so easy when you just have 2 hours.
But it was good, not great, but good enough.

So in my humble opinion, i dunno if this movie deserves a Best Pic, but Phoenix...I mean, what the f*ck do you have to do to win that Best Actor award???
Got get it man.

I'll be surprised if I see a performance this year better than Joaquin in this. Still gotta check out Marriage Story & Irishman, maybe those'll surprise.

Great movie. Very psychological and Phoenix gives an award-worthy performance. Its a realistic look at mental illness and how a crazy criminal can be made by a society that rejects him at every turn. It was well made, acted, shot. It's not a movie I would rewatch a lot though, just because it's so dark and unnerving. But as it stands, another great movie from DC. I'd rather they make more individual, director-driven movies like Joker instead of forcing a cinematic universe. Focus on making unique and tonally different movies, that will keep the genre driving.
