Joseph Gordon-Levitt Talks In Detail About THE DARK KNIGHT RISES And LOOPER

It's been a great year for Joseph Gordon-Levitt. After a starring in The Dark Knight Rises, the actor followed that up with leading roles in both Premium Rush and the critically acclaimed Looper (which will hit theatres on September 28th). Levitt also has a role in Stephen Spielberg's Lincoln, but in the following interview with David Letterman, he talks in detail about his interpretation of how Christopher Nolan's final Batman film wrapped up and reveals a little more about what audiences should expect from Looper. Unfortunately, we don't have a transcription of the interview (it is pretty lengthy...) but you can watch the full chat below. Many thanks to Batman-News for the heads up.

In the futuristic action thriller Looper, time travel will be invented – but it will be illegal and only available on the black market. When the mob wants to get rid of someone, they will send their target 30 years into the past, where a "looper" – a hired gun, like Joe (Joseph Gordon-Levitt) – is waiting to mop up. Joe is getting rich and life is good… until the day the mob decides to "close the loop," sending back Joe’s future self (Bruce Willis) for assassination. The film is written and directed by Rian Johnson and also stars Emily Blunt, Paul Dano, and Jeff Daniels. Ram Bergman and James D. Stern produce.

STARRING:

Bruce Willis as Joseph Simmons
Joseph Gordon-Levitt as Joseph Simmons
Emily Blunt as Sara
Paul Dano as Seth
Noah Segan as Kid Blue
Jeff Daniels as Jack Mitchell
Piper Perabo as Suzie
Garret Dillahunt as Jesse

RELEASE DATE: September 28th, 2012

it seems like everytime JGL is on a stage in front of a group of people, he's overdosing on Happy Pills.

Joseph is my favorite actor of this generation. Watch "The Lookout" -- seriously one of the best-acted films I've ever seen. He's great in everything he does, even when the movies aren't.

@SmellofDuty: What a great movie Brick is too! Another one of my all-time favorites. My love for that film is actually what pushed me to get excited about Looper!

He is a fantastic actor but the "cobra commander" role was stupid and ridiculous, I couldn't top laughing when he talked.

@cipher: Good call - Mysterious Skin definitely deserves a mention. The guy is a genius there as well.

And as far as the Lookout is concerned, not only is JGL fantastic in it, but I feel like I should mention Jeff Daniels and Matthew Goode are at the top of their game as well. It's just an all-around great film -- seriously, see it if you have not! I can't recommend it enough.

@xcan: Yeah it's a film more people should know about for sure! You can grab it on Amazon for a couple of bucks Used though. Something to consider!

The Lookout is fantastic. I also really enjoyed his work in 50/50, (500) Days of Summer, Killshot, & 10 Things I Hate About You. I still need to see Brick though.

wouldn't it be awesome if Marvel picked him up for a role?

@RunDTC:
(500)Days of Summer is another one of my all-time favorites. And it would be a dream-come-true to see him in a Marvel film.
I know he's a bit old, but if we get Webb back for TASM2 (as they've worked together previously), I think Joseph would make a great Harry Osborn to Garfield's Parker.

Splenda:
Yep. I'm not seeing him credited for that film either. I think that his alleged "involvement" is all part of some big hoax...... ;) But yeah, he does seem like a really cool, nice guy. There are these videos of him at Occupy Wall Street, just hanging around talking with average people who have their cameras out, like he's no one famous. Really down-to-earth.
