Matt Reeves' THE BATMAN Rumoured To Go Into Production Sometime In 2019

With so many DC properties starting to get back on track, many fans are awaiting news about Matt Reeves' The Batman. Well Heroic Hollywood are reporting that film might go into production sometime in 2019.

Cautious optimism in regards to the DCEU  is slowly starting to grow againJames Wan's  Aquaman is getting good early reactions, Shazam! looks to be the kind of comic accurate film no one thought we'd see, and hope is understandably high for Patty Jenkins' return to Wonder Woman.

One of the biggest questions though, as it has always been in this universe is The Batman. Ben Affleck's solo outing as the caped crusader has been mired in controversy and woe,  the particulars of which don't need to be repeated here. What we do know is that Dawn of the Planet of the Apes director Matt Reeves is still on board for the DCEU film, and the last word is that he's broken the story and is in the scripting phase.

Now Heroic Hollywood is reporting, that the film is likely to go into production sometime in 2019. This certainly would make sense, what with Shazam! currently filming in Toronto, along with both Wonder Woman 2 and the Todd Philips Joker film set to go into production later this year.

This 2019 production date means we likely won't see The Batman until 2020 or 2021, making it a full 8 or 9 years since the vigilante's last solo outing in 2012's The Dark Knight Rises. If this is the case, it will be the longest period of time between Batman films since the gap between 1997's Batman & Robin and the Chris Nolan reboot in 2005, Batman Begins.

A 2020 release date would also see The Batman hit theatres the same time as Flashpoint,  which is said to begin production either late this year or early next, following reports that Warner Bros are planning to shoot the film in Vancouver.

Details are still unclear on whether our Schrodinger's Batman, Ben Affleck will still be in the role but if the 2019 production date is to be believed, then we'll no doubt find out sooner rather than later.

What do you think? Are you hopeful that the DCEU has finally found its feet? Are you still excited for Matt Reeves' The Batman? And do you think it will be Affleck in the cowl? Leave your thoughts below.
