Robert Pattinson Reportedly Closes Deal To Star In THE BATMAN As The DCEU's New Dark Knight

Goodbye Batfleck, hello Battinson! According to multiple outlets, Robert Pattinson and Warner Bros. have now closed a deal for the actor to don the cape and cowl and star in Matt Reeves' The Batman...

It was only yesterday that we learned that The Batman casting race had come down to Robert Pattinson and Nicholas Hoult, and now multiple trades are reporting that it's official: Pattinson is the new Dark Knight. While he's always been Matt Reeves' top choice, Warner Bros. wanted to see both Pattinson and Hoult on tape before making a decision.

Pattinson clearly impressed during costume tests and the decision was made shortly after meetings took place yesterday. Now, he will star in a planned trilogy of Batman movies from Reeves. Some outlets are saying it's a done deal, while others claims that he's simply now in "official" talks. but it sounds like he's definitely going to end up playing the iconic DC hero.

The first of those movies will arrive in theaters on June 25th, 2021.

Pattinson may be best known for starring in Twilight, but he's done a lot since then and has received widespread critical acclaim for a number of performances. He's also been cast in Christopher Nolan's next movie in a leading role, so those two will no doubt have plenty of Bat-related conversions.

The new Batman movies will reportedly focus on The Caped Crusader during his formative years and won't be connected to the Ben Affleck version of the character. Whether they're taking place in their own world or the studio is only rebooting the Caped Crusader isn't clear right now.
