If this is true, I'm really wondering how Reeves is gonna handle it. I mean, he is a good director, but most villains only work if they get their own personal stories and backgrounds to better understand their actions.

@Unites - between spider-man and batman , most of their rogues are known to general public so alluding to back stories is that needed. if the setting is proper i.e black gate or Arkham , this can show case a different vantage point for CBM ...... i'm not sure if it's been done with a vast gathering of villains on screen like this before ....

@Unites - There are plenty of ways around that. This is supposed to be a mystery/noir style film. The good thing about that is that we can see Bruce in the Batcave doing research.

I could easily see him in the Batcave with some of the lesser known villains like Mad Hatter displayed up on the Batcomputer with some important information about him, like being obsessed with Alice in Wonderland and using Mind Control technology. Just enough to let viewers in on what this guy's deal is.

Things like that. And as far as Riddler, Two-Face, Catwoman, and Penguin? I mean, everyone knows their deals already. They don't need to go into great detail about their histories or origins.

This film has The Long Halloween written all over it. A murder mystery involving Batman investigating multiple villains? It's a great chance to introduce so much to the film and its sequels without making them the main characters.

Personally, I wish Ventriloquist and Scarface would get added to this. This movie sounds like a perfect opportunity to use some of Batman's more ridiculous villains that wouldn't normally be a villain in a regular Batman film.

@Unites - It will be very Raymond Chandler or Dashiell Hammett-esqu, following the noir/hard boiled trope. They'll be pre-existing villains that the detective visits one at a time to follow the trail of a mystery.

i normally rag on you for this article Josh but i'm pretty pumped for this one . if it's done correctly , this has a lot of potential .

@knocturnalzen10 - I'm pumped for this. It reminds me of The Long Halloween. Murder mystery involving multiple villains.

And if we're looking at a more methodical, "smart" Batman with good yet restrained fight scenes, then we could really have something special.

I love my Batman villains as much as the next superfan, but not all of them at the same time. Especially since none of them have been introduced in other DCEU movies yet.

Heck, I would've been fine with just Riddler, Catwoman (who would eventually be on Batman's side anyway) and Firefly.

Even if the casting wasn’t a crime against humanity I’d still be worried. This seems like a lot of bad guys for one film

@campblood - I remember people saying casting a gay cowboy as the Joker was a "crime against humanity".
campblood
campblood - 6/14/2019, 11:30 AM
@CorndogBurglar - I still don’t like him as the joker , he’d have been perfect for anarky though. And my qualms with the cast has nothing to do with who he is or his acting skills. He’s not physically intimidating enough , to scrawny
CorndogBurglar
CorndogBurglar - 6/14/2019, 12:17 PM
@campblood - Ha! Ya know....I'm not the biggest Heath Ledger Joker fan either. I don't think he was bad by any means. But he still didn't capture the Joker to me. But clearly we're in the minority.

I'm kind of tired of them taking all these liberties in an attempt to bring something fresh to the screen. Especially when most are pretty bad. Gotham's Joker looked ridiculous. BvS Joker was God awful. This new Joker movie looks terrible.

It's been almost 30 years since we've gotten anything even close to a comic accurate Joker on-screen. I think it's about time to try that again. Especially since, in my opinion, Nicholson is still the best Joker by a large margin.

@CorndogBurglar - when I said physically I mean Pattinson batman, sorry for any confusion . Heath , his joker just suffered from a poor understanding of the character but making him an anarchist

I really think that all of them, except the Riddler, all have limited roles in this movie. Any way, no matter what Reeves is gonna do, I'm pretty pumped to see Mad Hatter and Firefly on the big screen

I bet this is a Arkham based story and one of the villains have been murdered.
gunfighterii
gunfighterii - 6/14/2019, 7:39 AM
1 simple explanation for all these villains being linked/leaked and name dropped....Arkham.

What if we're not getting a full film of 6+ villians just all getting beat in the 1st film! What if the 1st film sets up the next 2 by I don't know... Arkham Asylum being broken out of ;)
Kman
Kman - 6/14/2019, 7:48 AM
@gunfighterii - I feel like the Arkham route is the best way to approach this movie with so many villains... I can dig it.
