J.K. Simmons' turn as Commissioner Gordon in Zack Snyder's Justice League was certainly one of the more well-received casting announcements, however, future reprisals of the character are very much in limbo. Ben Affleck (46) is officially out and nearly every report regarding his potential replacement states that Warner Bros. and director Matt Reeves want an actor 15-20 years younger for The Batman.
Speaking to ET, Simmons reaffirmed a few of his previous statements regarding a potential return to Gotham City.
“I know nothing, I know that I signed up to do three movies and I hope there are going to be two more. It has been in and around and through, whether it be Batman or Justice League or another Suicide Squad, or where Commissioner Gordon might end up appearing again, I’m open to it. I’m not sitting at home waiting for the phone to ring in the meantime, but I hope there’s more of that in the future."
The Batman will hit North American theaters on June 25, 2021. Over on Twitter, Reeves has revealed that filming is expected to kick-off in late-2019.
