Once upon a time, Ben Affleck was supposed to direct and star in The Batman. He penned the screenplay with comic book writer Geoff Johns, but issues in his personal life - and possibly his experience working on Joss Whedon's Justice League reshoots - meant the actor and filmmaker walked away from the project.

Since then, he's reprised the role of the Dark Knight in Zack Snyder's Justice League and is set to return as Bruce Wayne (possibly for a farewell to the character) in The Flash next year. 

Fans are determined to see Ben Affleck's The Batman become a reality, and made their voices heard on social media over the weekend by getting #MakeTheBatfleckMovie to trend globally. The hope is that WarnerMedia will take note and make it a reality, and it joins the #RestoreTheSnyderVerse and #DeathstrokeHBOMax campaigns which have generated such enthusiasm online. 

Affleck's The Batman was set to feature Deathstroke dismantling the Caped Crusader's life, with the final act set to feature Bruce Wayne teaming with Batgirl to square off with Slade Wilson in Gotham City.

Warner Bros. is looking to move on from the "SnyderVerse," so chances are they won't pay much attention to this.

Stranger things have happened, though...

Just make them comics. It makes no sense to have these projects go when everything is set to just have new versions of all these characters, including a new batman. I think the batman from Affleck would've been cool to see, as deathstroke seemed to be a very different villain for batman to face. But just being a cool idea isn't worth the heel turn in production. Maybe fold these ideas in a battinson sequel, but make this a comic so we as fans can see the idea and move on.

Give it a rest. Synder hasn’t gotten any money for WB. MoS and BVS both underperformed financially and critically. His synder cut didn’t even surpass WW84 numbers in terms of viewership. Zilla and Kong has a better chance of being developed then any of these movies listed.

That said...I did want to see a Affleck movie. Once a long time ago. But even he doesn’t want to do it. He said he’d drink himself to death. Trying to make that movie. He’s only don’t flashpoint to give his Batman closure. That said, I hope flashpoint erases a majority of the synderverse and wb starts anew.

So let's say that translates to movie ticket sales (assuming a ticket is 20 bucks), that would mean it would bring in around 40 million. Yeah, that's not viable.

I'm happy we get to see Affleck one more time in The Flash, but after that it's just way more interesting in the long term to move on with the much younger Pattinson.

If Affleck was maybe ten, even fiver years younger I’d entertain this a little. But the guys close to 50, not to be ageist but we’ve got a new trilogy on the brink of existing, with an already talented and younger actor.

This hashtag shit will work for half finished movies, not for projects that barely even got by pre-production.

This is one of the campaigns I could get behind. I still think that Affleck is a great casting choice for the character and could leave his mark.
It's also a lot more feasible than "Restore the Snyderverse". A Batman or Deathstroke solo can be done on 70mil while another Justice League movie would require a lot more money than WB is willing to invest.

All that being said: it's beyond annoying to be forcefed these Twitter campaigns over and over again. Nearly exhausting as a fan of the source material myself. We only has one movie of the JL and I'm already stuffed by all the news surrounding it.
It's only one movie but feels like we're already 30 movies deep.

@Blergh - Nah! Of all the slate of movies I'm interested in them making, sorry Ben Affleck's Batman is not one of them. By the way I love how Snyder fans are begging for a Geoff Johns co-written Batman movie lol. [frick]ing hilarious.

If you said 1. Zack Snyder directed Tower of Bable Movie
or that Flash Rick Famuyiwa movie or The Green Lantern Corps movie. I would be down for any of those. As far as I'm concerned the Robert Pattison batman movie looks way better. I'm glad they axed Ben Affleck as Batman.

I had a girl round the other day who is a huge Batman fan and she wouldn't even watch Justice League because Ben Affleck was playing Batman. It was always bad casting. Sorry.

Hopefully The Batman will be great and the fans can move on. I would have loved to have seen Batfleck, and I really enjoyed the re-cut JL, but I think the chance has now gone.

I have supported Release The Ayer Cut. It won't work, but hey I'm one of the rare people who liked the movie and I like the director. I was happy he ran with such a diverse and likeable cast. Plus the movie was a box office success unlike Synder's mnovies.

@aresww3 - difference being that Snyder has a very loud and prominent fanbase, Ayers support pales in comparison.

And given ZSJLs minimal success (if a any success at all) I'm sure WB will think twice about making more directors cuts.

@Blergh - @aresww3 - Uh. It was still successful bro. You have to remember most of the people who signed for WW84, signed for ZSJL as well. So presuming they stay on the service for 3, 4 maybe even 5 months, that's a massive success.

It was never going to be what the Snyder bots thought it was going to be. Which is why I think it's insane for them to think Snyder can direct movies for HBO Max. The only way for Snyder JL movies to make proper money is on the big screen and not be 4 [frick]ing hours lol.

The sad thing is, I think Fumiyawa and others who were connected to this universe, were better character and narrative storytellers than Snyder. I think in particular Ayers original SS and Rick Fumiyawa's Flash would have been big hits if they came out before Snyder's Justice League and BvS.

When Affleck was writing his solo bat-movie, due to the poor reception of Batman v Superman, when he had fallen off the wagon hard and he was trying to crack the story, he showed the script to a friend to ask his opinion on if he should or even could make the movie. His friend told him that he thought he could make a great Batman movie... but that he’d drink himself to death if he did it. Let it go Wilding, it’s NOT happening.

This is actually pathetic, and is only gonna hurt future DC film. Ben should grow a pair of balls and call these people out. If he doesn't wanna make any more films, make a definitive statement and show support for The Batman and Battinson, cause they're just gonna keep getting hate.

Post-BvS, whenever Ben talks about the character/DC he always looks done with it to me. Aside from the mandated-PR happy face.

ZSJL reshoots and a Flash cameo are easy to agree to. But I just don't see him as interested in committing to any more than that.
